Contra Costa County Continues to be Under Flood Advisory

A flood advisory is in effect until 5:45 pm Saturday afternoon for all of Contra Costa County per the National Weather Service.

They said an urban and small stream flooding will be caused by excessive rainfall–many roads in Contra Costa County have already been shut down by cities and police departments have issued notices to residents. It has been reported that 1 and 4 inches of rain ha already fallen and additional 0.5 to 1 inch is expected.

Impacts:  Flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Rises in  small streams and normally dry arroyos. Dangerous flows over  low-water crossings. Water over roadways.

Some locations that will experience flooding include:  Oakland, Fremont, Hayward, Concord, Berkeley, Richmond,
Antioch, San Leandro, Livermore, Mountain View, Alameda, San  Ramon, Pleasanton, Union City, Walnut Creek, Pittsburg,

Antioch

City of AntiochThe Antioch Police Department advised drivers in the city to do so carefully, slowly and do not attempt to cross areas that are flooded. Some areas have water that is higher than it looks. Police confirmed they have had multiple vehicles stalled due to flooding.

Several roadways are closed which include:

  • ‘L’ Street from Sycamore Ave to 18th street
  • Southbound Deer Valley Road near Kaiser
Other areas that are flooded:
  • San Jose Drive
  • ‘A’ street near the railroad tracks
  • 10th Street between Auto Center Drive and ‘O’ Street
  • West Lake
  • E Madill near Beasley Avenue.
Antioch Police advise the community to avoid the listed areas and to call (925) 779-6950 to report additional flooding!

Brentwood

Please drive safely and cautiously today in the rain! There is significant flooding throughout the county and we want to remind our community to avoid these areas.
As of now, the area of Lone Tree Way and Fairview Ave. is closed due to flooding. Please avoid the area and expect delays.
Lastly, the City’s sandbag distribution site is located outside the City’s cardboard drop-off gate at 2300 Elkins Way (while supplies last). Residents may report flooding to BPD Dispatch at (925-809-7911).

Danville

Avoid the area of Brookside Drive & Paraiso Drive, Danville due to flooding: Avoid the area of Brookside Drive & Paraiso Drive, Danville due to flooding. For info CWSAlerts.com. This is a message from Danville Police Department. Due to flooding, residents are advised to avoid the area of Brookside Drive between Paraiso Drive and El Capitan Drive in Danville.


Martinez

The City of Martinez is dealing with ongoing flooding issues with city crews on scene. City Public Works crews have been alerted to significant flooding on:

  • Brown Street:  Brown Street will be closed from Pacheco Avenue to Pine Street and the public is requested to avoid this area.
  • Additionally, mudslides have occurred on portions of Alhambra Avenue resulting in lane closures.
The public is advised to avoid these areas to the extent possible and slow down when approaching impacted streets and roadways. If you do not need to be on the road today, please stay home.

Oakley

City of OakleyDue to the heavy rain the City of Oakley is experiencing the following water related incidents:

  • Bridgehead Road just south of Wilbur is completely shut down.
  • O’Hara Avenue north of Neroly Road partially shut down, but is continually moving towards a complete shut down.
  • Other areas experiencing flooding are Freedom Basin, lake off Frank Hengel Way, and Elm Lane. Laurel Ball Fields are completely flooded.

It should be noted, the Oakley Police Department have already urged members of the commnity to stay out of both the Freedom Basin and Laurel Ballfields which includes no water sports in the . That means no swimming, no jet skiing, surfboarding, no paddle-boarding, canoeing, scuba diving, treasure searching.


Pittsburg:

City Public Works crews have been alerted to significant flooding (as in other cities) in the following areas of Pittsburg:

  • Willow Pass Rd at Nantucket
  • N. Park Side Dr. from Andrew to Cannery
  • Sugar Tree/ Jacqueline/ Peach Tree
  • Solari Underpass at E. 10th
  • 8th at Herb White Way
  • Willow Pass at Range Road
  • Freed Cir at Leland
  • Bailey south of Leland
The public is advised to avoid these areas to the greatest extent possible and slow down when approaching impacted streets and roadways. If you do not need to be on the road today, please stay home. San Ramon

The city of San Ramon has announced San Ramon Blvd is closed from Norris Road to Talavera Road as a tree is in the roadway. Meanwhile, Alcosta at Fircrest is closed due to flooding.

San Ramon Police are also utilizing their rescue vehicle for rescues in areas which are flooded.


Walnut Creek

The much-needed rain is causing local creeks to rise and some roadways are not drivable at this point. The City of Walnut Creek’s Public Works crews have been operating since mid-morning, and the City Manager has opened the Emergency Operations Center as a precaution shortly before 2:00 p.m.

(Updated) December 31, 2022, Contra Costa County, CA – Contra Costa County Public Works is working today to clear several roads due to flooding, mudslides and other issues. Below is the current status of roads in unincorporated Contra Costa County:

  • Intersection of Pacheco Blvd & Arthur Rd, Martinez-currently closed to all traffic due to flooding. Please avoid the area.
  • Tice Valley Blvd is closed between Woodhaven Lane in Walnut Creek & Tice Hollow Court in Alamo due to flooding.
  • Marsh Creek Road is closed between the Round Valley Regional Preserve (19450 Marsh Creek Road, Brentwood) & Clayton Road due to flooding, rock, and mudslides. Only local traffic is allowed in the area — more info
