Activate with Senya: New Year, New You!

It’s that time of year again where we reflect on what we are grateful for and celebrate, as well as mourn our losses or failed attempts of the past year and drown our sorrows. Either way it is time to stand up and brush off those knees. Let us set our sights on the future.

I appreciate those old sayings that somehow ring true. “No plan is a plan to fail.”  So, what is your plan for 2023?

Were you successful in achieving last year’s new year resolutions? If not, then chalk it up to failing forward. Let us take what did not work and use it to our advantage. It is time to use what we learned in the past and make it work for us in the future.

Here are a few tips.

  1. Decide on your goals. What is it that you want to achieve? Physically, mentally, socially, spiritually, professionally, even consider relationships with your partner, parents, children. We all have an area with room for improvement.
  2. Set an action plan. Goals without action are dreams, and dreams do not work unless you do. Take it step by step. You need to crawl before you walk and walk before you run. So, create a plan that will allow you to learn the skills you need for each level. This step may require an accountability partner or group setting, so explore your options and figure out what works for you. This way you will have the skill set and support to maintain success.
  3. Plan the reward or celebration. What are you going to do when you reach your goal? What will it feel like to achieve it? How do you feel when you follow through with your plans? You will need to ask yourself tough questions. What will happen if I don’t try? Are you okay with that?  Only you know the answers to these questions. If you are happy where you are, I am happy for you. But if you are seeking something different then do something about it, because I hate to be the one to break it to you, but Superman is not coming.

So, let us do 2023 differently.

Using the 3 steps above, decide where change will occur, set an action plan, and schedule a deadline and reward. I wish you much success in your new adventures.

As for me, the answer is yes. I am setting my plan of action and giving myself grace to fail forward.
