At 2:17 pm, Contra Costa County Hazmat was responding to a 3,000 gallon chemical spill at Westbound Highway 4 at Somersville offramp in the City of Antioch.

County Hazmat Statement:

Our HazMat team has responded to an accidental spill of 3,000 gallons of blue biodegradable toilet mixture and human waste from portable toilets in Antioch near the Somersville Road exit of Hwy 4. The spill poses no inhalation-health threat to people who smell the odor. The spilled liquid and waste have been contained in an area that collects storm water. A plan is being developed to pump the spilled material and dispose of it properly in the sewer system.
