At 4:34 am Thursday, the California Highway Patrol responded to a report of a vehicle versus pedestrian crash at I-680 S at Treat Blvd in Walnut Creek.
It was reported that a male subject was laying in the middle of a lane of traffic. By 4:40 all lanes were blocked and a SIGLAERT was issued.
As of 5:21 am, Lanes 6-7 were reopened.
As of 6:03 am, all lanes were open
UPDATE Vehicle vs. pedestrian Fatality on I-680 near Walnut Creek.
This morning (2/16/23) at about 4:34am, Contra Costa CHP was advised of a vehicle vs. pedestrian crash on I-680 southbound near Contra Costa Boulevard. At the time of the crash, a pedestrian was within the roadway of I-680. A Toyota Corolla traveling southbound was unable to avoid the pedestrian and struck them. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene and the driver of the Toyota was not injured.
