Antioch Police Chief Statement on Inappropriate Text Messages

by CC News
Chief Steve Ford

Antioch, California Chief Steve Ford releases the following statement regarding recent reports of inappropriate text messages being attributed to Antioch Police Department members:

I condemn in the strongest possible terms the racially abhorrent content and incomprehensible behavior being attributed to members of the Antioch Police Department in media reports. I have taken immediate action to ensure a thorough investigation by an external independent entity is conducted and the community is not exposed to any individuals under question from this reporting.

On behalf of our organization, I apologize to the Antioch Community for the hurt caused by this hateful speech. I promise to hold accountable the officers expressing racist or bigoted beliefs, biased insensitivity, and those boasting about harming members of the community.

I would like to thank the Contra Costa District Attorney’s Office and Federal Bureau of Investigation for their work in helping us identify the sickening disease of racism and other incompatible behaviors within our ranks. We will continue to fully cooperate with their efforts while taking actionable steps to restore community trust in our organization.

Having Soros funded DA Becton and compromised FBI investigating is a joke. I would find someone else who isn’t a three letter compromised agency or Soros funded DA to conduct the investigation and really solve the problem. Huge difference between Pittsburg City Council meetings and Antioch’s. Lamar is no model citizen himself and has achieved as Mayor. I’ll stick to Pittsburg.

Pittsburg city council is controlled by Glover. He decides who is in and out. Just like he will decide who will replace him. Don’t be fooled. That’s why you never see him invest time in Antioch and why Antioch city meetings takes place. Don’t be fooled.

Support for the officers April 14, 2023 - 9:18 am

I personally dont care what people say or text in their private lives. Cops need to be hard and especially hard in a sewer like Antioch.
The focus needs to be on filling the vacancies at the PD.

I’m from Antioch and the cops ALWAYS been corrupt since I moved there back in 2000. I don’t and will NEVER TRUST the Antioch “kill squad”! They will always murder someone in their communities just to save one of their own & that will NEVER change. It has been and will continue to be like this. So, I’m VERY GLAD that those cops will be getting what they deserve. They all should be suspended without pay but if fired should pay back what they lost in time served.

I agree. I was held up at gunpoint, pistol whipped, and my car stolen last Sep. They caught the three people shortly after. Due to mistakes made by the officers, the case was DROPPED. Not only that, but they had the audacity to treat me like I was the criminal!! So hey, if you want to get away with a violent crime, go to Antioch. The most they allowed me to do was make a victim impact statement. For those who don’t know what that is, it’s where the victim goes to court and tells the defendant how that situation has affected their life. And they only allowed me to confront one of them. GEE THANKS.
