Two Arrested in San Pablo Shooting

The San Pablo Police Department issued a video press release regarding an April 3 shooting which resulted in the recent arrests of two suspects.

According to police, on 04/03/23 at 11: 30 p.m., officers responded to a ShotSpotter gunshot alert in the 1300 block of 23rd St in front of Bonfare Market. Officers learned two suspects confronted five victims who were seated in a parked vehicle in the parking lot.

As the suspects drove away, one suspect fired three rounds at the victims inside the vehicle. Fortunately the victims were uninjured.

Detectives utilized public safety cameras to identify the suspect vehicle and subsequently 31-year old Rodeo resident Alejandro Diaz and 31-year old San Pablo resident Irvin Escalante-Herrera as the suspects.

Earlier in the morning on 04/27/23, Investigators served search warrants with the assistance of the Contra Costa Sheriff’s Office in the 900 block of Sandpoint Drive in Rodeo, and 2100 block of Emeric Avenue respectively. Both Diaz and Escalante-Herrera were arrested.

Detectives subsequently seized three illegal firearms as well as evidence linking the the suspects to the shooting. Both suspects were subsequently booked into County Jail on charges of attempted homicide and gun violations.
