San Pablo Police Announce Man Charged With Murder of Wife and Her Mom

The San Pablo Police Department announced the arrest of Phuc Vo who was changed with murder of his wife and her mother.

San Pablo, CA – On September 13, 2023, officers took a report of two missing persons last seen from their residence in the 1900 block of Sutter Avenue.

40-year-old Phuc Vo reported his wife, 40-year-old Tho Ly and her mother, 74-year-old Que Tran had been missing since September 6th, 2023. They reportedly left in their 2017 Honda Fit to Southern California following a family argument.

During the preliminary investigation, San Pablo Police Department Detectives received information indicating that both Ly and Tran had travelled to Southern California. However, this information could not be corroborated and their whereabouts were unknown.

During investigative follow-up, SPPD Detectives discovered inconsistencies in Vo’s statement regarding the victims’ vehicle. Detectives had observed Vo driving his wife’s missing vehicle, which was located on December 5, 2023 in the City of Oakland. Subsequently, Vo was identified as a person of interest in connection with the missing persons case.

For several weeks, Detectives followed up with varying investigative leads searching for potential witnesses and evidence. Based on evidence gathered during the investigation, it was believed Vo had direct involvement in the disappearance and murders of Tho Ly and Que Tran.

On February 29, 2024, San Pablo Police Department Officers, with the assistance of numerous allied law enforcement agencies, served a search warrant at the home in the 1900 block of Sutter Avenue. Phuc Vo was taken into custody on a Ramey arrest warrant, and was subsequently booked at the Martinez Detention Facility.

On March 4, 2024, the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office filed formal charges against Vo for two counts of Murder (PC 187) with a special circumstance enhancement. Vo remains in custody at the Martinez Detention Facility.

This is an ongoing investigation and the location of the victims’ remains are not confirmed. We encourage anyone with information about this case to call the SPPD Investigations Division at 510-215-3150
