Gasoline Theft Attempt Results in 6 Vehicles Destroyed in Antioch

At 2:00 pm Thursday, the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District firefighters responded to a report of a vehicle fire at the eBART station in the city of Antioch.

The fire sent a cloud of smoke into the air and briefly impacted Highway 4 traffic as multiple vehicles began to catch fire.  In total, six vehicles caught fire and were destroyed.

According to Contra Costa County Fire, they said based on preliminary information, the fire appears to have been caused during attempted gasoline theft. The incident remains under investigation.

The District called the attempted theft a “dangerous and damaging undertaking

No other information was released.
