The Oakley Police Department announced the arrest of a 20-year-old Oakley man who is a suspect in a May 10 stabbing.

According to police, Sergeant B. Foreman, Officer T. Horn, Officer D. Navarrette, Officer T. Burton handled an assault (stabbing) investigation that had several twists associated with it during the evening of May 10, 2023.

At 8:19 PM a father of an adult son called us to the 3800 block of Frank Hengel Way for the report of 8 juveniles vandalizing his sons vehicle with knives. The father also stated one of the juveniles had a “blank” gun with them. Our officers arrived onscene, but by the time we arrived the juveniles were gone.

Oakley Police officers reviewed video of the incident and saw a group of juveniles standing around and looking at the son’s vehicle. It was also learned the son (and owner of the vehicle) came out of the house and scared the juveniles away before appearing to flatten one of the tires of a vehicle the juveniles arrived in.

While our officers were still on scene the son came out of the house and said everything was fine and showed no interest in speaking to our officers as evidenced by the fact he took off running away from our officers and through the neighborhood showing no desire to interact with our officers at all.

The father who initially reported this incident to us requested a report for being the victim of a battery because one of the juveniles caused an abrasion to his forehead during a physical confrontation he had with one of the juveniles.

At 8:39 Oakley Police officers were dispatched to the 4000 block of Kenwood Circle for the report of somebody being stabbed in the chest. Our officers rushed to that area and made contact with a female who was suffering from a stab wound to her chest area.

The female told our officers she was at Cypress Grove Park, near Delta Vista School, when a person by the name of James Faison (20, Oakley) confronted a group of males she was with. Faison happens to be the same male who ran from our officers during the vandalism investigation, in which he was the victim. The female victim informed us Faison stabbed her with a knife during the confrontation and she made her way home to make the report to us.

The injuries sustained by the female are not considered life threatening.

At 9:05PM our officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Warhol Way for the report of Faison brandishing a knife and threatening people with it as he walked down the street. Our officers responded to the area and did not locate Faison.

At 10:37PM morning shift Officer T. Berkley saw Faison on West Cypress Road, near Lorenzetti Drive. Officer Berkley took Faison into custody with the assistance of other officers. A knife was found on the person of Faison and it is believed to be the same knife used in the assault of our female victim.

Faison was arrested and booked for the assault.

Note – originally, this was listed as a May 7 incident per Oakley PD. They have since updated the date to be May 10.
