Arrest

The Oakley Police announced a pair of arrests in a May 7 shooting near E Ruby Street and 3rd Street in the City of Oakley. Police say the occupants in a vehicle were shooting at the occupant(s) of another vehicle.

Police identified the suspects as Agustin Calderon, 40 of Oakley, and Carlos Anguiano, 25 of Oakley, who was taken into custody with the assistance of the Brentwood Police Department and the Pittsburg Police Department.

Information released by Oakley Police:

The Oakley Police Investigations Unit has been busy steadily investigating this case since it began. Part of our investigation included identifying the respective drivers of the involved vehicles and working hand in hand with allied law-enforcement agencies to help us be on the lookout for the involved vehicles.

On the morning of May 10, 2023 a Brentwood Police Officer found one of the involved vehicles in Brentwood. Officers from the Brentwood Police Department and Investigators from the Oakley Police Department then worked together to successfully, and safely, detain the driver. The driver was transported to the Oakley Police Department and he was ultimately arrested and booked for multiple charges related to weapon violations, illegal drugs and a parole violation.

In the afternoon of May 10, 2023 an officer from the Pittsburg Police Department found the other involved vehicle in Pittsburg. Again, Officers from the Pittsburg Police Department and Investigators from the Oakley Police Department worked to safely take the driver of that vehicle into custody. That driver was also transported to the Oakley Police Department and he was arrested and booked for Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

“The two people we have taken into custody for this violent incident are two men from Oakley with extensive criminal records and who have animosity with each other due to gang related tensions. I am identifying the man who was taken into custody in Brentwood as Agustin Calderon (40, Oakley). By nature of Calderon being on parole he is an unlawful gun owner.

During a search of Calderon’s vehicle my investigators found a loaded firearm stashed in a hidden compartment that was easily within reach of him as he sat in the drivers seat. Not only is Calderon an unlawful gun owner the firearm he had stashed in his vehicle was not registered to anybody and it is not a State of California compliant firearm.

Calderon was arrested for:

  • Felon in possession of a firearm
  • Carrying a loaded firearm in a vehicle
  • Possession of an unregistered firearm
  • Possession of a short barreled shotgun
  • Possession of dangerous drugs
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Parole violation

I am identifying the man who was taken into custody in Pittsburg as Carlos Anguiano (25, Oakley). Anguiano is currently on probation for a previous firearm related offense. Anguiano was arrested for Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

I am proud of the Officers of the Oakley Police Department as they consistently show their dedication to the community by serving the community and creating a safer environment for all of us. This case highlights that type of dedication and the efforts our officers put forth to create that safety barrier. Detective T. Locke is the lead investigator of this investigation. I cannot state what epitomizes the current spirit of the Oakley Police Department any better than what Detective Locke personally told me. In Detective Locke’s words “We do not tolerate violence and we will always investigate these types of cases thoroughly and vigorously”.

If anybody has any information related to this case please contact Detective Locke at 925-625-8822.”

The only real way to stop gun violence is to lock people like this up and throw away the key. Both guys on supervised release already for gun stuff and both gang members. Theres not going to be any reforming people like this.
