The Pittsburg Police department are investigating a fatal stabbing that occurred Thursday afternoon in the City of Pittsburg.
According to preliminary information, at 3:30 p.m., Pittsburg Police Officers responded to an apartment at 1010 Power Avenue (Belmont Apartments) for a domestic violence incident. A man and woman were involved in a fight inside an apartment, and the man was stabbed in the chest.
Officers and Contra Costa County Fire Protection District fire personnel attempted to perform life-saving measures. However, he succumbed to his injuries.
The woman was taken into custody due to the incident and will be transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
This is an ongoing investigation, and Pittsburg Police say they could not, at this time, provide any further information on the incident or if any formal charges would be filed. They also did not say if this was a murder or self defense.
