Clayton, CA – The Contra Costa County Public Works Department will perform paving work on Morgan Territory Road, between the Morgan Territory Regional Preserve (9401 Morgan Territory Road) and Marsh Creek Road, beginning on Monday, June 12, 2023, through Thursday, June 29, 2023, barring unforeseen circumstances.
The work will take place from 8:00 a.m. through 4:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday (excluding holidays), weather permitting.
Traffic control will be used throughout the work area. Drivers should expect long delays and are encouraged to use alternative routes to avoid this area.
Contra Costa County Public Works Road Closure Information
(Updated) June 8, 2023, 8:30 a.m., Unincorporated Contra Costa County, CA – Contra Costa County Public Works continues to respond to damages to the roads and other issues related to the recent storms. Below is the current status of the county-maintained roads in unincorporated Contra Costa County:
- (Updated 6/8) Wildcat Canyon Road is currently closed to all traffic between San Pablo Dam Road and Inspiration Point due to storm related issues (erosion/slides) and for the public’s safety. The Public Works Department is completing its assessment of the damage to Wildcat Canyon Road. We are beginning the design of the new retaining wall and are working to complete the required environmental clearances for construction. We had anticipated a Summer 2025 construction date, but are making every effort to advance the schedule to 2024. - Norris Canyon Rd has closed one lane of traffic between Asbourne Drive and the County line until further notice due to road embankment failure. K-rails and stop-controls are currently being used to guide traffic through this section of the road. Drivers are urged to use caution when travelling through this area.

Please avoid these areas and limit traveling during stormy weather, unless necessary, due to localized flooding, downed trees, and hazardous situations. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads – driving, riding or walking. We also advise residents to stay out of the creeks and flood control channels.
