Assemblywoman Lori Wilson announced Tuesday that within the California Budget Act, the City of Oakley is getting $2 million for the E Cypress Road Widening project.

Here is her release:

SACRAMENTO, CA – Assemblywoman Lori D. Wilson (D – Suisun City) announced that Governor Gavin Newsom has signed Assembly Bill 102, a key component of the 2023-2024 California budget Act which includes important funding for a number of projects statewide.

Included in these projects are two critical infrastructure proposals secured directly by Assemblywoman Wilson along with a handful of others that will benefit the 11th Assembly District:

  • $1,500,000 to the City of Vallejo, for the Vallejo Marina Seawall Rehabilitation Project.
  • $2,000,000 to the City of Oakley, for the East Cypress Road Widening (Jersey Island Road to Bethel Island Road).

Other 11th Assembly District funding contained within in AB 102 includes:

  • $3,750,000 for the County of Solano for radio interoperability and infrastructure improvement and early learning resource center.
  • $2,500,000 to the Contra Costa Fire Protection District, for the Firefighter Peer Support & Crisis Referral Pilot Programs.
  • $2,500,000 for the California Department of Housing and Community Development for grant funds to cities in Contra Costa and Alameda Counties for the creation of pre-approved permit ready accessory dwelling unit plans.
  • $500,000 for Hijas del Campo for construction of farmworker housing in east central Contra Costa County.

“It is an honor to be able to bring state funding back to my district, especially in a difficult budget year,” said Assemblywoman Lori D. Wilson (D-Suisun City). “These infrastructure improvements build upon over $17 million in district requests from last year’s budget. Environmental protection, transportation infrastructure housing and emergency preparedness are key needs for our community which I will continue to address in Sacramento.”

“The City of Vallejo is excited and grateful for the support of Assemblywoman Lori Wilson and Governor Newsom,” said Acting Vallejo City Manager Gillian Hayes. “This State Funding of $1.5 million toward the repair of the sea wall will reduce and mitigate the siltation that has been occurring in the North Basin of the Vallejo Marina. This repair has been long time coming, and we look forward to its repair as a boost to our community and the City’s economic development.

“With immense gratitude, I am grateful that Assemblymember Lori Wilson supported and secured $2,000,000 in State funding for the City of Oakley,” said Oakley Mayor Aaron Meadows. “These funds will be directed towards addressing critical infrastructure needs, specifically focused on improving East Cypress Road from Jersey Island Road to Bethel Island Road. This substantial investment carries the potential to make a lasting impact, benefiting the residents of Oakley and the County.”

The 11th Assembly District encompasses all of Solano County along with portions of Contra Costa and Sacramento Counties.

I wish Oakley would focus more on improving public transportation and walkability than widening the roads. I can’t drive due to a disability, which makes transporting inconvenient.
