Meanwhile on July 10, there was a pursuit which Antioch Police Department did not release any information on, but the Oakley Police Department provided details on how their officers assisted in a stolen vehicle theft out of downtown Antioch in which speeds reached 100-MPH.

According to Oakley Police:

Antioch PD located an occupied stolen vehicle (2016 black Hyundai Sonata License # 7TJL717) downtown Antioch.  APD attempted a traffic stop but the vehicle fled east bound on Wilbur Avenue towards Oakley.  Oakley PD officers set up on Wilbur Avenue near Highway 160.  OPD officers saw the vehicle pass them at a high rate of speed and APD officers were far behind.  Oakley PD officers took over and pursued the vehicle as it got onto Highway 160 north bound over the Antioch bridge.  CHP and air support were requested.  CHP air support was enroute from Auburn.  The pursuit continued north bound Hwy 160, to east bound Highway 12, passed I-5. A CHP unit was in the area but did not take over and lost site of our units.  We terminated our pursuit of the vehicle and to our knowledge it is still outstanding.

Here is a look at the previous 2-months of stolen vehicles in the city of Antioch:

The criminals have long known that Antioch is a lawless town that lacks a police force. I would highly recommend that citizens in Antioch purchase a Steering Wheel lock. At least it serves as an additional deterrent.

Expect the soro’s da to down grade the felony charges to a slap on the wrist . You won’t be able to financially go after the criminals because they won’t be prosecuted for the theft.

So much for Mayor Thorpe’s oft-repeated claims that crime is down in Antioch.

I would suggest that before you go spouting off about crime statistics in Antioch followed by claiming that Mayor Thorp is probably lying when he states that crime has gone down, you might want to actually read the entire story/article becausew it gives you the opportunity toclick on a link that takes you directly to the APD website, where you can , with little to no effort, actually find this exactly information, just to make sure you won’t be making a fool out of yourself.

So, when you alleged that Mayor Thorp was not telling everyone the truth when he stated that crime was decreasing here in Antioch, I decided to check for myself. I clicked on the link provided in the story above and what do you know, I was able to easily find the information that would support either Mayor Thorp’s claims or your claims Robert C. Would yhou like to know what I discovered? I discovered that you are the one who is falsly insinuating that Mayor Thorp is lying to all of us, when in fact, official the official records from the APD show that Mayor Thorp is indeed reporting correct information.

Here is a loink to the Antioch Police Department website which shows the crime statistics for Antioch over the past 10 years or so. https://www.antiochca.gov/police/crime-statistics/

So, a word of advice to you Robert C., if you want to avoid looking like idiot in the future, you might want to conduct some research on a subject before you go souting off that an elected official is lying to everyone because, from here on out, no one is going to respect anything you have to say and everyone will probably just chalk up your comments to being a racist or bigot as we have alot people with similar characteristics who espouse similar unfounded opinions and unsupported claims about Mayor Thorp’s job performance. Right now, you certainly don’t appear to be a goos candidate for providing a fair analysis of anyone’s job performance.

Statistics show that crime has steadily been going down in Antioch since 2017, that is until half of our police force was discovered to be racist and our city is now suffering from the the suspension of nearly 50% of police force. So, who is really to blame for the increase in vehicle thefts, Robert?

Your names not Jewel July 28, 2023 - 1:31 am

Thorpe? Is this you? Lmfao! You’re a fool.

Look Around July 28, 2023 - 8:28 am

Jewell sounds angry and is spouting nonsense. You took the time to research crime stats but somehow can’t figure out how to spell Thorpe? Nice try. Crime down? Is that why there’s constant reporting about crime and criminals being linked to Antioch everyday? Crime is down so much that people don’t see all the crime happening around them, feel safe in their homes, in their neighborhoods, while out shopping, driving? And the mayor is so great at leadership that he has a stellar reputation and the trust of Antioch citizens, has improved quality of life here, works well with police and others? Yeah sure. The bar must be set awfully low for you. For me, it’s not. Antioch looks nothing like the city I moved to decades ago or even a few years ago. It has deteriorated beyond belief with no improvement in sight because of failed leadership, included the guy you think is doing a wonderful job. Now feel free to use the standard response to call me a bigot or racist because I’m neither bigoted, racist, white or a fool. I see quite well, but then again, my head is not stuck in the sand.

An what will mayor and woke majority on city council blame this time as home values continue to drop. Would not be surprised if insurance companies refuse to insure homes and vehicles in Antioch.

Prices are generously higher than they should be for that town. Sell now, best decision of your life! Move to a red county or out of state. The Bay Area chaos is unbearable. There’s no fixing anything there. Accept it. You’ll only have yourself to blame for staying.

Common Criminal Haven July 25, 2023 - 3:19 pm

Common criminals have a strong hold in Antioch. Meanwhile Thorpe is posting on his FB page about traffic calming measures with no way to increase police patrols to enforce the reduced speed limits. We can’t stop winning at losing. SMH!

Antioch is the breeding ground for bottom feeder. Why work when you can just steal it?

And the beat just keeps going on and on for Antioch… and unfortunately for the City, things will reach a point of no return, unless they start taking decisive action now. Time to declare a “state of emergency”, like what the Vallejo City Council is considering doing for their PD staffing issue.

Antioch PD is outnumbered and out gunned by criminal low life. No cop will consider lateraling here to fill the vacancies in Antioch, PD… that would be the same as signing up with Custer’s 7th Cavalry Regiment just in time to go to the Battle of the Little Bighorn, while knowing full well what the battle outcome will be.

I feel like those numbers are way too low for what has been going on in Antioch. Between 2017 and 2018 something fishy happened to the reporting cause how do u all of a sudden stop about 400 stolen cars a year? I really do think the Antioch police falsify records to keep certain numbers to look lower than what it actually is .

Residents in the City of Antioch continue to be plagued with the plague.

Just ridiculous July 26, 2023 - 12:54 pm

Have the Antioch voters had enough, or are you thirsty for more?!?!

What does apd do? All the involved with this scandal should be fired

This is getting out of hand! It is time APD get assistance from CHP for these auto thefts, after all that is a speciality of theirs. They could also help with the sideshow enforcement. After all they have been helping SFPD with auto burglary the past few weeks.

Maybe it’s time for Mayor Thorpe to ask for that type of help. Unless he is getting a kick back on these stolen cars.
