Kohls Theft Attempt in Brentwood Nets Identity Theft Bust

The Brentwood Police Department announced the arrest of two City of Antioch residents in connection with a theft at Kohls within the City of Brentwood.

According to police, on Tuesday, Brentwood officers were dispatched to Kohl’s for a report of a suspicious male and two suspicious females attempting to steal. When officers arrived they saw them getting into a vehicle, and did a traffic stop for expired registration.

The officers contacted the driver of the vehicle, 36 year-old, Daniel Hernandez Jr of Antioch, who was on probation, and the occupants, 30 year-old Monet Leeks of Antioch, and another female occupant.

Upon searching the vehicle, officers located stolen credit cards, checks, identification cards, death certificates, and forged documents. They also found a number of burglary tools including a variety of keys, pry bar, pliers, and magnets which are can be used to remove store security tags.

Hernandez was placed under arrest for violating his probation, possession of burglary tools, identity theft and other related charges. Leeks was also placed under arrest for the warrant.

Brentwood Police thanked a  Kohl’s employee who called us in a timely manner, as this surely prevented additional crimes form occurring in our city or elsewhere.
