At 8:29 pm Thursday, the Oakley Police Department responded to a report of a vehicle versus a house in the city of Oakley with a driver suspected of a DUI.
Upon arrival, the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District requested a medical helicopter for the driver of the truck which struck the house, however, as they provided patient care they opted for a ground transport.
Oakley Sgt Jeff Solomon said officers were dispatched to O’Hara Ave and E Home Ave where officers arrived to a home which had been struck by a vehicle.
According to Solomon, witnesses informed police they believe the driver was driving recklessly doing donuts in an intersection before hitting a parked vehicle.
“The vehicle traveled down the road a little ways through a fence, hit another truck, then traveled down the street and collided with a residential house,” said Solomon who said only the driver was injured. “We are doing an investigation into reckless driving and DUI.”
The damage to the house included some exterior damage. No other information was provided by police.
Friday Update
The driver- Robert Lejeune (73, Oakley) was transported to the hospital for treatment for injuries sustained in the collision. Our officers conducted a DUI investigation and we need to await the results of chemical test results before we determine if we will proceed with a filing with the District Attorney’s Office. I will provide updates on this case as they become available.
