Pittsburg Police Investigating Shooting at Highlands Ranch Park

At 2:15 Thursday, the Pittsburg Police Department responded to a report of shots fired in the area of Rangewood and Meadows in the city of Pittsburg.

Police arrived on scene and located a gunshot victim along with several casings near the tennis courts at Highlands Ranch Park. A medical helicopter was requested, however, it was later determined the victim would be ground transported by AMR. Contra Costa County Fire also responded as precaution as this came in as an “active shooter”.

By 2:30 pm, it was reported the subject was uncooperative and was being ground transported by AMR to an are hospital.

As of 2:44 pm, Pittsburg Police were still investigating the incident along with an Oakley Police K9 who was on scene searching for evidence.

No other information was readily available.

4:25 pm UPDATE: 24-Year-Old Wounded

At approximately 2:15 PM, Pittsburg Police officers responded to Highland Ranch Park after receiving multiple 911 calls regarding a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located evidence of a shooting as well as a 24 year old male that had sustained a gunshot wound to the arm. First aid was rendered and he was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Officers interviewed multiple witnesses on scene and are currently collecting and reviewing surveillance video from the area in order to identify those involved. The Pittsburg Police Department is requesting the public’s assistance and asks anyone with additional information to contact dispatch at (925)-646-2441.
