1 Home Destroyed as 4 Homes Saved by Firefighters in Pittsburg

At 12:21 pm Friday, Contra Costa County Fire Protection District firefighters responded to a report of flames coming from a home in the 4300 block of Diehl Drive in the city of Pittsburg. While responding, firefighters reported smoke from the station and soon declared it a working fire. Upon arrival, crews located a home, outbuildings and vegetation on fire while threatening multiple homes. Crews also determined the fire was on Foothill Way and was threatening three homes. Fire vicinity Diehl Dr. extinguished. 4 homes protected, 1 substantially damaged, resident displaced. 1 patient transported for smoke inhalation. Investigator couldn’t rule out smoking materials as cause. Backyard storage and vegetation contributed to rapid fire spread. full story
