At 12:21 pm Friday, Contra Costa County Fire Protection District firefighters responded to a report of flames coming from a home in the 4300 block of Diehl Drive in the city of Pittsburg.

While responding, firefighters reported smoke from the station and soon declared it a working fire.

Upon arrival, crews located a home, outbuildings and vegetation on fire while threatening multiple homes. Crews also determined the fire was on Foothill Way and was threatening three homes.

According to Contra Costa County Fire, one home substantially damaged. Residents were able to self-evacuate and no injuries were reported. The fire is under investigation.

Fire vicinity Diehl Dr. extinguished. 4 homes protected, 1 substantially damaged, resident displaced. 1 patient transported for smoke inhalation. Investigator couldn’t rule out smoking materials as cause. Backyard storage and vegetation contributed to rapid fire spread.

It’s been a busy few days in East County as firefighters on Thursday afternoon responded to a 3-alarm vegetation fire in the area of Willow Pass Road and N. Bella Monte Avenue in Bay Point.
