Good News

Good News Friday returns as readers have submitted their “good news” to share around Contra Costa County. It’s nice to have a single post of just good things happening around Contra Costa and a little bit of everything is being shared.

For future submissions, ideas include:

  • Anything positive
  • Shout out to a local business for going above and beyond
  • Family shout out (anniversary, birth, student athlete)
  • Business News — from a new business launch, an anniversary or simply a business deal)
  • Sports — could always use more of this.
  • Divorce? Kidding, but in some cases, perhaps its good news.

If you want to submit for next week, email [email protected] with the subject line “good news”.

Antioch Police Department –– CSO Austin Graham took a stolen vehicle report and he discovered the victim in the case was turning 86-years-old today. Her car was later located and had been damaged, but was recovered. CSO Graham didn’t like seeing her upset and tried to make her birthday a little brighter. Austin went and got her a birthday card, a cake, and a plant.

The entire crew got together and presented her with a birthday cake, card and took a photo with her to hopefully make this birthday better than it had started out. This brought a smile to the her face, and we were able to make her day a little better and for that, all of the dayshift crew’s day was a bit better as well. Thank you CSO Graham for taking the time to make this happen!

Donna Wirth – Just wanted to give a shout out to an amazing co-op preschool that has a tight community. Pixie Play School on Ayers and Concord Blvd is a 2-5 year old preschool that families participate in. The teacher and the board members are caring and love to come up with new ideas every time for a curriculum. The school has art, math, sciences and it’s all play based. I have been a part of this school for the last 7 years with all three of my kids and I’m sad that my youngest will be moving on to kinder in the fall.  Their phone is (925) 689-4030 and are located at 1797 Ayers Rd. Come check them out!

Dog

Kim – My dog Lucca went missing September 1st 2023, I came home from work and he was gone! My heart sank , I was devastated I searched the neighborhood asked neighbors if anyone had seen him and nothing! I searched for hours day and night to find my boy, I was determined to find him!

I knew I couldn’t do this alone so I posted on Nextdoor, Facebook, Instagram, Fido, Doggy 911 Pawboost, Craigslist, Antioch Animal shelter, etc.

I posted pictures of him everyday asking for prayers and help that if anyone seen him to please call me.

I posted flyers all over Antioch Ca. I was not giving up!!

This went on for 6 days!

I couldn’t eat or sleep, I cried daily, I prayed hard!

I had hope as people started to reach out, saying they seen him in certain areas , I would go in hopes I would see him and nothing, until the 6th day I got a call from my brother Richard Lopez saying I see Lucca!! He told me he was on A street and as he’s chasing him he’s calling out his name and he’s running faster until he runs onto the A street on ramp to the freeway! I’m completely frantic as I am at work in Martinez, then he tells me he lost him, he ran into some bushes.

Right after his call a woman called me and said “Hi I see your dog he’s on Hwy 4 west bound. She said so many people stopped and try to capture him but he kept running. Now I’m in panic mode because I know he’s scared and I’m so worried he will be hit by a car. After that conversation. Not even 2 minutes later I get another call from a woman telling me she sees him on the freeway going East bound! I said “what” I was just told he was west bound, she tells me no he’s on the freeway by Hillcrest Ave! So I thanked her , hung up called my brother, tell him and he goes . In the meantime I’m posting like crazy on Facebook, a lady by the name of Arline Correa sends a message asking where the sighting was, I tell her.

I’m shaking, crying, desperate that they find him and catch him, I told my boss I’m leaving. As I’m gathering my things, my brother texts me and it says “GOT HIM”!!

I have never felt so happy in my entire life! Now the desperate tears , we’re tears of joy!

My brother Richard and Arline risked there lives on that busy freeway to save my baby, Arline was able to set a trap “kennel” and he ran right in it!!

Thank you Jesus they saved my boy!!

During all this time I was completely overwhelmed by the outpouring of the community, with all the comments of my posts, the sharing, searching, calls, texts, private messages, and prayers, I’m talking so much Im still thanking people.  Not knowing any of these people I was so grateful that they were reaching out Daily !

I could not have done it without them and still as of today people are still reaching out checking in on my boy!❤️

I just want to give a huge THANK YOU to Arline Correa and to my Brother Richard Lopez and to the community, you truly made this miracle happen! God is good!!
