On Sunday, one person sustained major, but non-life threatening injuries, in a six vehicle crash on eastbound Highway 4 near Sommersville Road in Antioch.
According to CHP Spokesperson Adam Lane, he confirmed Monday the driver of one off the vehicles involved fled the scene immediately following the crash. The person injured was the passenger of a separate vehicle.
The crash occurred just before 6:00 pm and blocked multiple lanes of traffic.
It was reported that at least one firearm was located in the vehicle, however, Lane said he can’t comment further on the investigation but that they are investigating a hit and run crash that resulted in major injuries to an involved party
This collision is still under investigation.

When is the craziness that has become Hwy 4 going to stop? The CHP needs to perform what they used to do called “saturation enforcement” of problem areas, like they did with Vasco Road and other stretches of roadway that had a high percentage of serious accidents. I no longer use highway 4, I will take a slower, longer and relatively “safer” street route to get from Oakley to business in Antioch or Pittsburg, like Costco or Winter Honda when I need to have my car serviced.
Me preferring to drive through the streets of Antioch really says a lot about just how bad Hwy 4 has become.
CHP is too busy wiping every other cities polive agencies @ss, so they dont have the time and manpower to patrol freeways properly.
I’m guessing one of the many hwy 4 “fast and furious” wanna-bes was involved.
CHP should be saturating Hwy 4. They drive like NASCAR but without the intelligence or skill and are killing people and causing accidents regularly. Ever since the freeway construction ended CHP is basically non existent. Why do we always get screwed out of services in East County?
