Video: Grinch Steals Santa from Antioch Home

Santa

On Saturday, video captured the moments where a Santa decoration was stolen from an Antioch home on G Street.

According to the video, the incident happened around 10:00 pm Saturday at a home on G Street where a vehicle parked, a man got out, walked up to the porch and within seconds, grabbed the Santa statue and ran back to the vehicle where another person waited with the trunk open.

The incident was less than 30-seconds.

According to the owner of the home, Santa was a very special gift from a family.

“I’m sure we won’t see it again, the thing is that we saw a nice house with lights and decorations near our house who has a similar Santa outside their house, it’s actually the house on the photo you guys published not too long ago with nice Christmas decorations here in Antioch, we are close to it, so and we thought it would be nice to put ours outside our door too, it only lasted a week,” said the owner. “If it gets returned would be a miracle, it’s just sad there’s no respect even on decorating the house.”

He added that his wife and daughter are scared to not even have a lot of lights on and cameras now must be on around the house. He added the actual time of theft was 9:00 pm.

“This is the third time in the last 4-months that we have been burglarized. Then first was a truck they opened the tool box and took everything, second they tried to take a utility trailer and now the Santa,” he shared. “One time there was a group of youngsters having a big fight in our driveway we call 9-1-1 and tried to explain them what was going on and I told the operator that one of the guys had a gun and I basically got yelled at for not knowing what kind of gun was it or because I couldn’t go in person and see it instead of looking through my window.  What really has me worry is that we don’t see that many cops driving by through G St. not that often.”

No other information has been provided and its unknown if any other theft of Christmas decorations have occurred in the City of Antioch.

If anyone has any information on the two suspects, please contact the Antioch Police Department at (925) 778-2441.

Back in October, the Pittsburg Police Department addressed a suspect stealing Halloween decorations by releasing the suspect photo after Halloween decor was stolen from multiple homes. Decorations included skeletons, ghosts, and Amazon packages from the porches of several residences in our city.  Police said the suspect has been around Pittsburg from San Marco area , Highlands Ranch, Crestview and Buchanan Rroad in the late hours to early morning. No update was ever provided in those incidents.

Typical Antioch behavior. Why work for things, when you can steal them?

Remember the days when we could bundle the kids up and walk around the neighborhood to enjoy Christmas lights? (Shannondale, aka Santadale, was once a Christmas season destination.) Today’s kids don’t get to experience that, and before long no one will decorate at all, since it gets stolen from them anyway. It’s just such a shame.

Don’t hold your breath waiting for that miracle. We had a big, beautiful Santa on our front porch for many years. It was stolen almost 10 years ago, before we got our security cameras. Stole it in broad daylight. I’m still angry about the whole situation. We only put up lights now.
