Oakley Man Dies in Early Morning Antioch Crash

The Antioch Police Department is reporting a 28-year-old Oakley man has died in a vehicle crash in the City of Antioch on Tuesday morning.

According to police, On December 26, 2023, at approximately 2:45 a.m. Antioch Police Officers responded to Wilbur Avenue near the intersection of Apollo Court on a report of a vehicle on fire after having collided into a tree.

Officers along with the Contra Costa County Fire Department arrived and were able to extinguish the fire, the driver, a 28-year-old male from Oakley and his dog succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced deceased at the scene. Antioch Police are withholding the name of the decedent until proper family notifications have been made.

Antioch Police said that it appears speed and alcohol were factors in this incident.

No further information will be provided at this time per Antioch police.

This is the second fatal crash in a week in the City of Antioch as last week, Two Juveniles Dead in Antioch Crash as Suspect Fled Scene. On December 22, 2023, at approximately 11:30 p.m. Antioch Police Officers responded to the intersection of W. 6th Street and G Street on a report of a traffic collision with injuries. Officers arrived and located two vehicles involved. One of the vehicles involved had two juvenile males inside (12 and 13-years-old). Both juveniles were transported by AMR ambulance to local hospitals. Both succumbed to their injuries and were later pronounced deceased.
