Vehicle Strikes House in Antioch Friday Morning

On Friday at 11:00 am, Contra Costa County Fire responded to a report of a vehicle that struck a house in the City of Antioch.

The incident occurred at a corner house on Van Buren Pl and Putnam where a vehicle jumped the curb went up an include on the side yard and struck the side of a house taking out a portion of the structure.

According to Contra Costa County Fire, it was reported that the driver was an elderly male and he sustained minor injuries but had to be extricated out of the vehicle. No other injuries were reported.

Contra Costa County Fire requested a board up company, PG&E to the scene and the American Red Cross for residents of the home. Antioch Police also responded to provide traffic control.

No other information was provided.

This now marks the 4th time in 8 days that a vehicle has struck a building/house in Contra Costa County. All incidents have resulted in minor injuries. Below are three other incidents.

On April 14, due to a medical emergency, a driver of a vehicle went into the Ross business on Hillcrest Avenue in the Hillcrest Crossings Shopping Center in the City of Antioch. Neither the driver or child in the vehicle were injured.

Vehicle Strikes Ross in Brentwood

On Thursday at 9:49 am, Contra Costa County Fire Protection District Firefighters responded to a report of a vehicle versus a structure in the 2500 block of Sand Creek Road in the City of Brentwood.

It was reported that a vehicle had struck the Ross Store and was inside the building.

Upon arrival, CONFIRE stated the building was struck, however, did not make entry and there was only minor damages to the building. No medical was needed. The Brentwood Police Department also responded to the scene.

No other information was available.

The Brentwood crash was the second within 24-hours where a vehicle has struck a building as Contra Costa County Firefighters also responded to a business in walnut Creek where a vehicle made entry.

Vehicle Strikes Business in Walnut Creek

On Wednesday, April 10, Truck 1, Engine 15, Rescue 86 and Battalion Chief 1 responded to a vehicle into a commercial building. The driver of the vehicle struck the building while in reverse and was transported to the hospital for evaluation. Fortunately, no other injuries occurred.

The damage to the business created potential instability of the building. The front of the building was shored up for safety. @walnutcreekpd, a Walnut Creek building official, and Walnut Creek Public Works responded, along with Winguard Construction for board-up. The damaged portion of the building was secured and taped off. The building official allowed for the business to remain open
