Brentwood stand-off

On Monday, the Contra Costa County Sheriffs Office responded to Sims Road in Brentwood which resulted in an hours long standoff after a man allegedly killed a woman.

UPDATE — suspect is dead after a self-inflicted gunshot (see update)

According to preliminary information, the Brentwood standoff began just before 4:00 pm when a woman was shot after an altercation inside a home—sheriff deputies also confirmed later they believed the male suspect had an AK47 ghost gun and other shotguns inside the home.

This prompted a standoff between the man and the Contra Costa County SWAT Team where they attempted for hours to get him to peacefully surrender.

During the standoff, as police negotiated, the man told the sheriffs department he had shot a female and she was laying on the floor and was “cold”.

Adrian Orozco, the son of the mother who was killed, said her ex-boyfriend

“I do know multiple swat units are on scene with multiple police agencies. The call came in for a welfare check and escalated to a standoff very quickly. That is my mother and the person in the room with her that is having the standoff with the police is my moms boyfriend,” shared Orozco who said there were no one else inside. “There is no hostages, no one else inside we all evacuated. We all got out.”

Orozco said there is history with the male putting hands on his mom before on multiple occasions pulling a gun on her stating this was nothing new to them.
