Liberty Union High School District

On Monday, the Mountain View Los Altos Union High School District announced the selection of Eric Volta as its next Superintendent.

The board voted 4-0 to approve Volta announced board vice president Esmeralda Ortiz.

“The board has selected a new superintendent, Mr. Eric Volta. The District and Mr. Volta are currently working to finalize a contract which will be brought back before the Board and voted upon on the June 3, 2024 board meeting,” said Ortiz who added they were excited.

Volta was hired as Superintendent by the Liberty Union High School District in 2011 and had been with the District for 11-years prior, including assistant principal of Freedom High School. Volta was selected and will replace Nellie Meyer, who is retiring. She took the job five years ago with the District after serving as Superintendent at the Mt. Diablo Unified School District.

Volta issued a message to the Liberty Union High School District Tuesday morning:

Dear LUHSD:
For a number of years, I have encouraged others to stop out of their comfort zones and take on new challenges. Whether its changing sites, teaching new courses, or even applying for new positions, there is nothing like the boost of energy that comes from making oneself uncomfortable and learning a new system.

After 13 years as LUSHD superintendent, I took my own advice. To make a long story short, last night the Mountain View-Los Altos Union High School District announced that I will be their next superintendent beginning in July. This was not an easy decision to make. LUHSD is a very special place filled with outstanding educators and staff working to make this the best learning environment for our students. The LUHSD Board knows and will begin formulating the next steps tomorrow at a special meeting before our regular board meeting.

With respect and fondness,

Eric
