The Jr. Optimist Baseball League in the City of Concord reports that $15,000 worth of equipment and property was lost after a recent burglary.

They are now asking the community for help as they say essential equipment has been taken. On Sunday, April 13, many items and equipment were taken including, a 2016 Artic Cat ATV, 2010 utility trailer, Honda generator, multiple water pumps, battery charger, a new spare ATV battery, and many tools and miscellaneous items throughout the facility.

A GoFundMe has been started to help them raise funds:

Hello everyone.

As some of you may know JOBL has had recent leadership changes over the last few years in hopes to make the proper changes and bring back the great competitive league of baseball and softball it once was. The very first year of the JOBL leadership change, the world was hit with the covid-19 pandemic, which took a toll on everything, including youth sports leagues across the nation, and our very own JOBL organization. Slow to relaunch from the year of the pandemic, year by year JOBL has been able to increase its numbers of athletes within the league. Entering the 2024 the signs of a positive relaunch of the organization had taken off, as the numbers of families and participants had spiked! Off to a great season of baseball, on March 16, 2024 JOBL opened its spring season.

Unfortunately, not even a month later, on April 13th, the JOBL facility was burglarized. Yes, you read that correctly! A non-profit youth baseball and softball organization was set back due to a burglary. With a tight budget as it is, and current funds to only carry out the season, the organization has so far counted a loss north of $15,000.00.

Many items and equipment were taken including, a 2016 Artic Cat ATV, 2010 utility trailer, Honda generator, multiple water pumps, battery charger, a new spare ATV battery, and many tools and miscellaneous items throughout the facility. Upon forced entry to the facility and the locked storage containers, the thieves vandalized and damaged a lot of property which now must be fixed and replaced. An additional ATV was left behind but vandalized in what seems where the thieves were attempting to take it but failed.

As a member of the community and a member of the JOBL volunteer organization, I am saddened to see such an act toward our youth organization, where many local children participate in and enjoy to be a part of the organization.

I am asking for the assistance of our surrounding community, to help recoup the loss JOBL has recently experienced. Your donations will help replace the loss items needed to carry out a successful and memorable season to our youth participants and their families. These donations are important to us all, as many participants look forward to being able to play at the facility and with the missing items, their expected experience is sure to change. Any and all donations will help for the better and we thank you all ahead of time.
