The Oakley Police Department announced an arrest of a 17-year-old was in a stolen vehicle and attempted to evade police before being taken into custody. The 17-year-old was wanted out of Alameda County.

According to Oakley Police:

At 9:32PM Oakley police officers located a reported stolen vehicle, out of Oakland, at East Cypress and Main. Our officer tried to pull the vehicle over but the driver refused to obey the law and lead the officers on a pursuit eastbound on E. Cypress Road. The driver continued evading officers as he continued towards Sandmound Road.

The driver entered the Mariner’s Cove apartment complex by ramming the entrance gate.  The driver continued driving erratically and pulled into a covered parking area.

The driver and a passenger ran from the vehicle and onto a nearby levee road. Our officers chased after the two suspects and citizens assisted us by pointing in the direction of where one of the suspects fled towards. It was determined the suspect ran into a modular home area, jumped a fence, and ran through a field.

An assisting deputy from the Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff was able to catch the suspect as he left the field near Aspen Road.

The suspect was identified as a 17 year old male, and he was determined to be the passenger of the stolen vehicle.  A CHP air unit and a Concord Police Department canine team assisted us in trying to locate the driver, but to no avail.

Oakley Police said the 17-year-old suspect was found to have a criminal history and a no bail warrant for escape out of Alameda County. The 17 year old male was booked into Juvenile Hall.

This is now the second time a 17-year-old has attempted to flee from Oakley Police who have been wanted in another area. Back in December, a 17-year-old assaulted an Oakley Police officer and attempted to reach for their firearm.
