The driver was pulled from the vehicle by Contra Costa County Fire Protection District firefighters after being trapped for approximently 40-minutes and was airlifted to a local hospital.  The Antioch Police Department also responded to provide traffic control and assist.

CHP has released no additional information as of 5:00 pm.

A traffic stop……oh, if only the CHP vehicles were equipped with radios. If only the CHP had aerial backup…oh, wait…they DO! So, a woman dies, and countless innocent bystanders are endangered…..ya, know? C’mon CHP.

Robert C. February 9, 2023 - 7:29 am

Innocent bystanders were endangered by the speeding ans reckless driving of the offender. The fault is with the offender, not the CHP.

What? Did you hit the snooze button? She was driving recklessly before they attempted to stop her! I bet you complain about the highway 4 drivers every day too! Waaahhh! You clearly can’t be satisfied regardless!

This why they have a no chase zone in oakland 🤦🏻‍♂️ should have one in the bay area too 🤦🏻‍♂️ putting innocent ppl at risk at high speeds. Chp didnt do the job right the chp is at fault n should face some charges just like the Oakland police officers

Klm February 9, 2023 - 9:15 pm

Ignorant.

Jhadis February 9, 2023 - 10:14 am

Chp knowing its more dangerous on freeway why chase a person who is capable of crashing or losing control and taking innocent lifes just for speeding and crashing. Not safe at all. This couldve been way worser if the tanker exploded innocent lifes on the freeway would be in so much danger and no route to save them selfs if this was to be a worser situation everyone wouldve been stuck in traffic with danger Chp do a better job

Two Wheeler February 9, 2023 - 2:28 pm

@Jhadis, and the offending driver could have simply pulled over. Join the CHP and show us all how you would do it better!

Choose Life February 9, 2023 - 3:46 pm

The CHP has a job to do. I thank them for their efforts. Who knows why the driver was being reckless, failed to respond to law enforcement’s attempt to pull her over, let’s place responsibility for the outcome where it rightfully belongs. With the driver.

Don’t commit crimes February 9, 2023 - 3:53 pm

The fault in this lies completely with the criminal . People are so stupid to blame the police. There is no chase, crash, endangering or dead criminals if the criminal isn’t committing crimes.
Bless you CHP for the work you do.
The good citizens appreciate you.
