Firearm and Fentanyl Found in Vehicle of Man Passed Out in Brentwood

The Brentwood Police Department announced the arrest of an Antioch man after a driver he was passed out in a vehicle.

According to police, over the weekend, Brentwood officers received a report of a male passed out inside of a car at the 1100 block of Arlington Way. When officers responded they noticed the car was still running and they attempted to wake the driver, who was identified as 29 year-old Marcos Martinez Tovar of Antioch.

When Martinez Tovar finally woke up, he began to reach for something on the side of his body. Officers found a loaded gun on Martinez Tovar, and upon searching his vehicle they found a 30 round capacity magazine, several rounds of ammunition, a large sum of money, a small scale, a few cell phones, clear plastic baggies, as well as a variety of drugs including fentanyl.

Martinez Tovar, who is on felony probation, was placed under arrest for several charges, including being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, possession of drugs for sale, transporting drugs, felony probation violation, and more.

Martinez Tovar was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility for booking.

$15.3 Million of Illegal Cannabis Seized in Contra Costa County

An operation this week by the California Department of Cannabis Control resulted in $15.3 million in illegal cannabis being seized. The locations were not provided, however there were 20 search warrants served on June 20 in the City of Antioch, City of Brentwood, City of Pittsburg and the Town of Discovery Bay.

In total, the agency reported the following was seized:

  • 742 pounds of cannabis flower estimated valued of $1,244,762
  • 17,121 cannabis plants estimated valued of $14,124,825
  • 7 firearms (including 1 assault rifle)
  • $24,197 in cash

Several of the locations were red-tagged for safety and code violations in which the Brentwood Police Department assisted on within the city locations. — see story
