The Hercules and San Pablo Police Departments announced the release the design of its new police patch with the community.

Police said the design took over a year of planning and conceptualizing what the new patch should look like and represent, the Hercules Police Department has officially adopted a new design.

Police Patch

Since its inception in 1978, the Hercules Police Department has proudly worn three different patch designs, each paying homage to our mission and values.

The City of Hercules is named after the Greek and Roman mythology hero, Hercules. Our new patch serves as a reminder of Hercules’s courage, kindness, and commitment to making the world a safer place; values we believe are essential to our mission at the Hercules Police Department.

In celebration of the City of Hercules’s rich history, the patch highlights the Pacific Refinery Company water tower, a local landmark in our community.

The Hercules Police Department is proud to wear a patch that represents our community and the amazing men and women at the police department who continue to serve our city with honor.

Over the past year, the San Pablo Police Department formed a committee to design a new patch to reflect our Department, Community, and Technological advances. The patch committee worked diligently to create our new patch, and this new design holds a lot of symbolism.

  • NORTH STAR: The North Star depicts a beacon of inspiration, hope, and helps guide our moral compass.
  • MISSION BELL: in 1968, the community of Manzanillo, Mexico (Sister City) gifted the City of San Pablo a bronze bell that was displayed within the Adobe Wall at Kennedy Plaza. The Mission Bells have been a staple of San Pablo since the 1800’s.
  • TREE: There are forty-eight different species of trees within the City of San Pablo. Most notable trees, which can be seen throughout San Pablo’s 2.6 square miles, are Western Sycamores, Coast Live Oaks, Evergreens, Willows, and Blue Elderberry.
  • TREE ROOTS: The tree roots symbolize the Police Department’s deep connection and history with the Community.
  • CREEK: Wildcat Creek and San Pablo Creek flow through the City of San Pablo. The San Pablo Creek watershed played an important role in the early history of San Pablo.
  • MORSE CODE (in Creek): Morse Code helped pave the way in the advancement of today’s modern technology. The depiction of Morse Code on the patch symbolizes the Police Department’s commitment to technology and to community engagement.
