CHP: Fatal Crash on Eastbound Highway 4 at Railroad

At approximately 3:00 am Monday, the California Highway Patrol responded to a report of a vehicle crash on eastbound Highway 4 at Railroad in the City of Pittsburg.

The crash was reported as a two-vehicle crash with a vehicle blocking at least one lane of traffic. Contra Costa County Fire Protection District responded along with AMR. CHP says at least one person has died.

No other information has been released.

CHP UPDATE: Solo vehicle fatal crash on SR-4 near Pittsburg

Today (11/13/23) at 2:57am, CHP Contra Costa was advised of a solo vehicle traffic crash on eastbound SR-4 near Railroad Avenue. Our preliminary investigation indicates a burgundy Honda Accord, with one occupant, was traveling eastbound on SR-4 when the vehicle traveled over the right shoulder and collided with the concrete wall. The vehicle veered across all lanes and collided with the concrete center divide and continued on to come to rest in the traffic lanes.

The driver sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. During the on scene investigation, it was determined the driver was not wearing their seatbelt at the time of the crash. This crash is still under investigation.
