Concord Police Nab 2 for DUI During Enforcement Patrol

Concord, Calif. – Concord Police Department arrested two driver’s on suspicion of DUI while conducting a DUI enforcement patrol on 12/23/2023.

Drivers charged with DUI face an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, as well as a suspended license. Concord Police Department reminds the public that impaired driving is not just from alcohol.

Some prescription medications or over-the-counter drugs may interfere with driving. Always follow directions for use and read warning labels about driving or ”operating heavy machinery,” which includes driving a car.

While medicinal and recreational marijuana are legal, driving under the influence of marijuana is illegal. Concord Police Department will be holding a series of DUI enforcement patrols throughout the year to keep our roadways safe.

Funding for this DUI Patrol was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

CHP Set for Christmas Maximum Enforcement Period

SACRAMENTO, Calif. –  The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is gearing up to launch its annual Christmas Day Maximum Enforcement Period (MEP).  This additional enforcement initiative aims to enhance the safety of the public on California’s roads during the busy travel period.

The MEP begins at 6:01 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 22, and continues through 11:59 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 25.   While the primary focus of the MEP is on speed enforcement, CHP officers will also be vigilant for impaired drivers.  Throughout this period, all available officers will be deployed on the roadways, intensifying enforcement efforts, and assisting motorists.

During last year’s Christmas MEP, CHP officers made 639 arrests for DUI – the equivalent of one arrest for DUI nearly every seven minutes throughout the holiday weekend. — Full Story
