On Sunday, Contra Costa County Fire responded to a report of a person laying face down in a creek behind Target in the City of Antioch.
The incident occurred around 11:15 am at Lone Tree Way and Slatten Ranch in Antioch.
While responding at approximently 11:20 am, AMR arrived on scene and determined the person was deceased and cancelled the rescue and no additional resources as the water depth was approximently 4-feet. Antioch police were requested. No other information was released
4:40 pm Sunday Update – Antioch Police Investigate Suspicious Death
On March 24, 2024, at approximately 11:15 AM, Antioch Police officers responded to the rear of the 5700 block of Slatten Ranch Road for a reported body floating in the creek. When officers arrived, they located a person deceased submerged in the water. The cause of death is unknown. The Antioch Police Department’s Investigations Bureau, consisting of Crime Scene Investigators and detectives with the Violent Crimes Unit took over the investigation. The cause of death is pending an autopsy from the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Coroner’s Office. The name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

4:45 pm Monday Update
According to police, there were no signs of foul play in mans death following a thorough autopsy, the Antioch Police Department has determined that the body found over the weekend to the rear of the 5700 block of Slatten Ranch Road was not the victim of a homicide. The exact cause of death remains undetermined; however, foul play has been conclusively ruled‐out in this case.

Prayers for this man’s family and friends and for the ones who found him. It is so hard having family out there.
Thank you Liz for the warm prayers. He was my Husband a very good man. It’s heartbreaking. The City of Antioch need to do more. Now I’m left without him.
