Spring has sprung and it is time for our sheep’s annual “haircut” on April 13, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

This year’s Sheep Shearing Day is one of the Park District’s 90th Anniversary “Explore Your Parks” Adventure Series programs, commemorating 90 years of East Bay Regional Parks and service to the community.

There will be a special 90th Anniversary presentation commemorating 90 years of East Bay Regional Parks at 11:15 a.m. during the first sheep shearing program.

Watch as the farm’s sheep get sheared, try wool carding, and make a wooly lamb to take home. Visitors can enjoy exploring the historic farm along relatively flat and paved trails while seeing a variety of animals, a large hay barn, an outdoor kitchen, a working blacksmith shop, and a Victorian farmhouse complete with surrounding formal gardens. The park will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and offers a glimpse into life on a family farm between 1890 and 1930. Sheep Shearing Day provides something fun for everyone.

Free admission for children under four years old. For children over four, admission is $5, seniors are $6, and adults are $7. Enjoy live music and craft activities. See the transformation from fiber to yarn at the spinning wheel throughout the event, along with four historic shearing demonstrations.

More than 2,500 visitors attended Ardenwood’s Sheep Shearing Day in 2023.
