Exterior Fire Damages Two Homes in Oakley Saturday

At 1:52 pm Saturday, the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District responded to a report of house fire in the area of Rose Avenue and Almond Drive in the City of Oakley.

While responding, Engine 93 reported smoke showing from several blocks out and upon arrival, located smoke and flames coming from between two homes on Almond Drive. Firefighters worked to limit damages to mostly the exteriors of two homes with little damage to the inside of a garage. No extensions into the home.  Crews were on scene for 1-hour 18-minutes.

As of 4:45 pm, Battalion Chief Jeff Burris said the cause of the fire was still under investigation. However, there was reporting of several “pops” heard just before the fire broke out. A gas meter was also damaged in the incident which prompted a PG&E response.

The Oakley Police Department also responded and blocked off Rose Avenue to allow firefighters to work the incident.

On May 15, just before 7;00 pm, Contra Costa County Fire respond to garage fire on Isleton Ct in the City of Oakley. That fire sent a cloud of smoke into the air. Firefighters were able to limit damages to the garage area.  fire knocked down 7:00 pm. Video of that fire can be viewed here.
