Antioch Surpasses Stolen Vehicle Total From 2022

With August figures not yet complete, the City of Antioch has now already surpassed its stolen vehicle totals from last year. Last week, Antioch Police show they had 51 reported stolen vehicles.

With 51 stolen vehicles last week, that is 7.2 stolen vehicles reported each day on average or a stolen vehicle every 3.3 hours.  Through August 26, 2023,  Antioch is averaging 3.12 stolen vehicle per day.

The Antioch Police Department have not released any information on vehicle thefts or prevention tips while its unclear if police are focused on higher priority crimes given reduce police staffing with may officers on administrative leave, others indicted, others face bribery charges or out on injury, but its been stated the patrol division has been reduced to between 27-30 officers depending on whom is providing the figure.

With August crime data still having another week to report, the city stands at 135 stolen vehicles through August 26–on the year, the city sits at 743 stolen vehicles per the crime logs.

While Antioch had 51 reported vehicle thefts last week, here is how Antioch stacks up to other cities over same time period:

According to the Antioch Police Department website, they have had a total of 608 reported stolen vehicles between January and July of this year–compared to the City of Richmond,  Here is a look at total stolen vehicles over the past 4-years.

Criminals ply their craft where the likelihood of being apprehended is lowest.
With so few Police on streets of Antioch why should they worry?
More interesting stats would be of 743 stolen vehicles how many were recovered?
How many arrests were made?
Of those arrested how many did DA prosecuted?
Of those convicted what was average sentence?

Other than hold press conferences and endlessly lecture during city council meetings
how many sworn law enforcement were brought in to ensure safety of citizens of Antioch?

I wonder what the comparison is to Bay Area cities that have similar populations. The cities noted are about 1/3 the size of Antioch.
