Antioch Hit with 328 Vehicle Thefts Since May 28

While Antioch Mayor Lamar Thorpe continues to defend his “crime is down” rhetoric, residents in the City of Antioch were hit with 19 more vehicle thefts last week.

The Antioch Police Department has not issued any comment regarding vehicle thefts, however, there are now 328 vehicle thefts since May 28 in the City of Antioch.  Here is a look at the known vehicle thefts between August 6-12:

  1. 8/6 – 1700 block Bermuda Way
  2. 8/7 – 1800 block Auto Center Dr.
  3. 8/8 – 600 block Wilbur
  4. 8/8 – 2600 block Wildflower Station
  5. 8/8 – 1000 block Bluerock Dr
  6. 8/8 – 4100 block Meadow Lake St
  7. 8/8 – 600 block Wilbur Ave
  8. 8/9 – 3600 block Mallard Ct.
  9. 8/9 – 4400 block Pampas Cir.
  10. 8/9 – 2700 block Harvest Lane
  11. 8/9 – 3200 block Piece Ct.
  12. 8/9 – 5100 block Ramsdell Ct.
  13. 8/10 – 2800 block Lucena Way
  14. 8/11 – 1400 block Yosemite Dr
  15. 8/11 – 500 block Amber Dr
  16. 8/11 – 2600 block Jaguar Way
  17. 8/11 – 4600 block Durness Ct.
  18. 8/12 – 700 block Hap Arnold St.
  19. 8/12 – 700 block E 18th St

The week prior, there were 50 vehicles stolen. The week before that, 48 vehicle thefts.

For context purposes, here is a look at the recent call logs for other cities and their vehicle thefts:

  • Brentwood – 3
  • Martinez – 2
  • Oakley – 2
  • Pittsburg – 17
  • Pleasant Hill – 6

Homicides:

Along with vehicle theft, Antioch Police dealt with several major incidents including a August 10 homicide on W 20th Street where an argument led to a shooting that left one man dead. You also had a 14-year-old shot and in critical condition after an altercation at the Antioch Marina  on August 12.

And lets not forget, you had Adil Aljanaby arrested for arson and threatening the life and safety of his family after a domestic dispute with his wife. On Tuesday, Aug. 8, at 10:40 p.m. Con Fire responded to a residential structure fire on Mount Hamilton Drive in Antioch. After a thorough investigation, the fire was found to have originated in the garage.  Upon further investigation, Con Fire Investigators learned approximately one hour prior to the fire, Aljanaby threatened to drive through the house, set the house on fire, and kill his family.

Can we get a map of these. Maybe see if we can detect a pattern and can warn the next area to be hit.

This is nuts how no one has been caught.

I would suggest using the garage to park your vehicle to lessen the chance of becoming a victim of these thieves.

Adding up vehicle thefts for the year it come out to approximately 630.
But mayor claims crime is down, must be in an alternate universe.
Has been reported Antioch has no officers assigned to traffic enforcement.
Citizens of Antioch your property values and city are circling the drain.
