The California Highway Patrol said a solo vehicle crash near Lafayette resulted in one driver who died.
On February 14, at about 6:56pm, CHP Contra Costa was advised of a solo vehicle crash on westbound SR-24, near Pleasant Hill Road. A Tesla Model S, occupied by one driver, was traveling westbound on SR-24 when it left the roadway and collided with a tree.
CHP and emergency personnel arrived on scene and the driver (adult female) was transported to the hospital. While at the hospital, the driver was pronounced deceased. Our initial investigation indicates the driver suffered a life threatening medical emergency which caused her to lose control of the vehicle and collide with the tree.
