1 Dead in Sunday Crash on Auto Center Drive in Antioch

At 4:08 pm Sunday, the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District respond to a report of a vehicle crash at W 10th Street and Auto Center in the City of Antioch.

While responding, it was reported that at least 1 person was trapped which prompted additional resources to be dispatched, including a medical helicopter.

Upon arrival, Contra Costa firefighters reported a three-vehicle crash with 3 patients, including two who were critical. A short time later, it was announced was person was deceased on scene. A medical helicopter was still responding for a second patient in critical condition.

The helicopter was to land in the parking lot at Granite Expo on Verne Roberts Cir.  Another patient was ground transported.

The Antioch Police Department and AMR also responded to the incident.  Check back for updates.

According to Battalion Chief Bob Atlas, he shared that units responded to a vehicle crash at W 10th Street with 3 patients. He confirmed 1 patient was pronounced on scene, 2 patients transported to area hospitals and had to be freed from the vehicle.

Antioch Police Update

On 4/14/24, at 4:07PM, the Antioch Police Dispatch Center began receiving multiple emergency calls reporting a major collision in the intersection of West 10TH Street and Auto Center Drive.

Upon arrival, officers learned the male driver of a blue Acura sedan was traveling N/B on Auto Center Drive, at a high rate of speed, approaching the intersection of West 10TH Street. The Acura sedan entered the intersection as a silver Lexus SUV was traveling W/B through the intersection (on West 10TH Street), resulting in a “T-Bone” collision.

Police officers immediately administered first-aid at the scene to all the involved parties. Several fire engines from the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District also responded and paramedics took over first-aid and life-saving efforts. Unfortunately, the solo occupant and driver of the Acura sedan (a 30-year-old male) succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The driver and passenger in the SUV (33-year-old females) were removed from their vehicle and transported to a local area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Antioch Police Department Accident Investigators responded to the scene and took over the investigation, which is still on-going. This investigation is in its preliminary stages and evidence and witness statements are being collected at this time. The names of the involved parties are not being released pending proper notifications.

Well at least it was the person at fault that died and not the other way around.

Speed and failure to obey stop signs and signals. Both epidemics in Antioch.
