El Cerrito Police Investigating Fatal Shooting

The  El Cerrito Police Officers responded to a report of a shooting on Sunday, April 23, 2023, at 4:32 PM. Callers reported multiple shots fired in the 900 block of Galvin Drive in El Cerrito.

Officers arrived at the scene and found the victim in the street. Members of the El Cerrito Police Department, the El Cerrito Fire Department, and American Medical Response began providing aid to the victim. Paramedics transported the victim by helicopter to a trauma center for treatment. The victim died from his injuries at the hospital.

Witnesses describe the suspect as a Black man, approximately 20 years old, with black hair. The suspect fled the scene rapidly driving westbound on Stockton Avenue from Galvin Drive in a white car.

Residents in the area who believe they saw the suspect or suspect’s vehicle are encouraged to contact the El Cerrito Police Department at (510) 237-3233. The ECPD is asking all residents and businesses on Stockton Avenue with security cameras to review their footage around the time of the incident for video of the suspect and his vehicle.

Please contact the ECPD if you have footage of the suspect in this case.

I was actually there when they did the helicopter medical evac. They cleared the baseball field at the park in order to land the helo and transfer the patient. I had no idea the patient was a shooting victim. I am sad to hear this was the case. RIP to the victim and condolences to his family.
