The Richmond Police Department announced it caught a bank robber minutes after it occurred in the city of Richmond.

The robbery occurred on Thursday just after 1:00 pm when Richmond Police responded to a bank robbery that had just occurred at the Wells Fargo Bank in the 4300 block of Macdonald Ave. The bank teller provided a description of the suspect, but had no information on where the suspect went after fleeing the bank.

At 1:09 pm, an observant Richmond Police Sergeant saw a subject matching the description provided by the teller, walking in the 400 block of 37 Street. The subject saw Richmond Police and immediately attempted to avoid contact by walking into a nearby store.

Richmond Police officers converged on the store and they were able to take the suspect into custody, without incident, as he attempted to exit the store. The subject was still in possession of his freshly stolen money and was positively identified as the bank robbery suspect by the teller.

Police said the bank robbery was solved within 5 minutes of receiving the call.

The suspects identity was not released and no other information was provided on the incident.
