The following Richmond Police Calls are for April 15-21 .  These are the dates and recaps reported by Richmond Police. Police reported 2,114 calls for service with 24 arrests and 46 vehicle crashes.

Below is an overview of significant service activity provided by RPD patrol officers during their scheduled shifts. Please note that activity shared in these segments are provided only as an overview, and do not reflect the entirety of service calls and reports taken throughout each shift.

Richmond Police Calls

4/15 – FELON IN POSSESSION OF A FIREARM: Officers conducted a traffic enforcement stop in the area of Carlson Blvd and Hartnett Ave for equipment violations. The driver was uncooperative and provided officers with false identification after being informed the vehicle was being towed for expired registration. Officers observed a firearm on the driver’s waistband as they attempted to remove him from the vehicle. The driver was taken into custody and the firearm was safely recovered. The subject was transported to a local hospital to be cleared prior to being booked. #3769

4/16 – VEHICLE ABATEMENT OPERATION: Officers conducted a vehicle abatement operation in the Central District in an effort to illegally parked vehicles and towing cars with expired registrations. 69 vehicles were towed and 15 citations were issued.

4/17 – GRAND THEFT: Officers responded to the area of S. 28th St and Cutting Blvd for a report of wire theft. Officers located the suspect at the scene. The suspect was quickly taken into custody after a short foot pursuit and taser deployment by the Officer. An in-field line up was conducted and the suspect was positively identified. The suspect was transported to a local hospital for medical clearance prior to being booked. At the scene, officers located a large ladder and bolt cutters near the service pole. #3910

4/17 – VEHICULAR MANSLAUGHTER: Officers responded to a vehicle collision near the intersection of Cutting Blvd and Carlson Blvd involving two vehicles. Unfortunately, there were 5 people injured, including one 6-year-old boy who succumbed to his injuries. The suspect was taken into custody at the scene. RPD traffic investigators are investigating the incident.

4/17 – TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT OPERATION: Officers conducted a traffic enforcement operation along the 23rd St corridor. Over 23 speeding citations were issued in less than 2 hours.

4/18 – EVADING PEACE OFFICER: Officers attempted to make an enforcement stop on a dirt bike in the area of Cutting Blvd and S. 18th, but the motorcycle accelerated and fled. Moments later, officers came across the same motorcycle after it rear-ended a vehicle. Officers impounded the dirt bike and the subject was arrested and released on scene after being cited for various vehicle code violations. #3946

4/20 – NEGLIGENT DISCHARGE OF A FIREARM: Officers responded to the 5000 block of Madison Ave for a report of shots fired. Officers found numerous casings at the scene. No victims were located and no property appeared to have been struck by gunfire. #4016
