March 11-17: Richmond Police Calls

The following Richmond Police Calls are for March 11-17.  These are the dates and recaps reported by Richmond Police. Police reported 1,989 calls for service with 45 arrests and 18 vehicle crashes.

Below is an overview of significant service activity provided by RPD patrol officers during their scheduled shifts. Please note that activity shared in these segments are provided only as an overview, and do not reflect the entirety of service calls and reports taken throughout each shift.

3/11 – RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY: Officers responded to the 400 block of 23rd St for a report of a burglary with the suspect still on scene. Officers learned the residents woke up to find the suspect inside their residence and noticed cash was missing. Officers located the suspect outside the residence and was found to be in possession of cash, consistent with the amount of cash missing from the victims’ residence. The suspect was arrested without incident. #2412

3/11 – EMBEZZLE LEASED/RENTED VEHICLE: Officers responded to a Flock alert of a stolen vehicle in the area. A records check confirmed the vehicle was reported stolen. Officers located the vehicle occupied and conducted an enforcement stop. The driver of the vehicle was arrested without incident. #2441

3/12 – DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE (DUI): Officers responded to the area of W. Cutting and Canal Blvd for a report of a collision and one of the drivers was reported to be intoxicated. One of the involved parties displayed signs of intoxication and during the DUI investigation, provided a breath alcohol sample of more than three times the legal limit. The subject was arrested and medically cleared at a local hospital prior to being booked. #2464

3/12 – SHOOTING INVESTIGATION: Officers responded to the 600 block of S. 31st St for a ShotSpotter activation. Officers located various expended casings on the roadway and projectile impacts on the exterior wall of a residence. Fortunately, no one was injured. This investigation is ongoing #2486

3/14 – CARRY LOADED FIREARM: Officers responded to the area of 1st St and Macdonald Ave for a report of a suspicious man. Officers circulated the area and located three subjects that matched the description. As officers approached the area, they observed a suspect discard a firearm before fleeing on foot. The suspect was quickly taken into custody and the firearm recovered. The other two subjects were found to have felony outstanding warrants for their arrest. All three subjects were arrested without incident. #2533

3/14 – STOLEN VEHICLE/RECOVERY: Officers responded to a Flock alert for a stolen license plate in the area. Officers located the vehicle occupied and conducted an enforcement stop. A records check revealed the vehicle was reported stolen. The driver was arrested without incident. #2554

3/15 – ROBBERY: Officers responded to the 2600 block of Hilltop Dr for a report of a robbery. Officers learned the victim listed an item for sell online and was meeting with the suspect to conduct a transaction. Once at the meeting location, the suspects gave the victim counterfeit bills and brandished a firearm. The suspects fled with the victim’s cellphone prior to officers’ arrival. An area check was conducted with negative results. #2612
