Jan 8-14: Richmond Police Calls

The following Richmond Police Calls are for January 8-14.  These are the dates and recaps reported by Richmond Police. Police reported 1,781 calls for service with 16 vehicle collisions and 39 arrests.

Below is an overview of significant service activity provided by RPD patrol officers during their scheduled shifts. Please note that activity shared in these segments are provided only as an overview, and do not reflect the entirety of service calls and reports taken throughout each shift.

• 1/11 – DISCHARGE OF A FIREAM: Officers responded to the 900 block of 7th St for a ShotSpotter activation. Officers located numerous bullet casings at the scene. No victims were located, and no property appeared to have been struck. #343
• 1/11 – BRANDISHING A FIREARM, DISCHARGE OF A FIREARM: Officers responded to the 3000 block of McBryde St for a ShotSpotter activation. Officers learned the suspect went back inside his residence after brandishing a firearm at the victim and firing several rounds in the air. Officers located one uninvolved subject and various casings in the suspect’s front yard. While contacting the subject, officers observed the suspect peek through the front door of his residence. A perimeter was quickly established and after several announcements, the suspect emerged from his residence and was safely detained. Officers were given consent to conduct a protective sweep of the suspect’s residence which resulted in a firearm being located. The suspect was arrested and booked for various weapons related charges. #376
• 1/12 – VEHICLE THEFT – ARREST:  Officers responded to the area of 7th St and Macdonald Ave for a report of a vehicle theft. The reporting party stated he was conducting work in the area when he observed the suspect enter his parked city vehicle and drive off. Officers conducted an area check with negative results. Later that day, the reporting party advised he located the vehicle occupied in the 11000 block of San Pablo Ave. Officers responded to the area, located the vehicle and confirmed the vehicle was a match for the stolen vehicle. The suspect was arrested without incident and the city vehicle was recovered. #398
• 1/12 – STOLEN VEHICLE – RECOVERY: Officers responded to a flock notification for a stolen vehicle in the area. A records check confirmed the vehicle to be stolen. Officers circulated the area and located the vehicle. An enforcement stop was conducted but the suspect failed to yield. The suspect fled at a high rate of speed and lost control of the vehicle causing him to collide. The suspect abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot. Officers established a perimeter and with the help of K9 Stark, located the suspect hiding in shrubbery. The suspect was provided medical attention before being booked, and the vehicle was recovered.
• 1/12 – SHOOTING INVESTIGATION: Officers responded to the area of Carlson and Potrero for a ShotSpotter activation. During the course of the investigation, officers learned the victims were driving when gunfire was heard. The victims were not injured; however, their vehicle was struck by gunfire multiple times. Officers located various casings at the scene. This investigation is ongoing. #412
• 1/13 – DISCHARGE OF A FIREARM: Officers responded to the 1500 block of Chanslor Ave for a report of a shooting. Officers located a victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound to their lower extremities. The victim was provided medical attention on scene before being transported to a local hospital in stable condition. The victim stated he was inside his residence when gunfire was heard. Officers located a projectile impact inside the residence. This investigation is ongoing. #424
• 1/14 – ROBBERY, DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE: Officers responded to the 600 block of 7th St for a report of a battery. During the course of the investigation, officers learned the suspects followed the victim from a nearby store. Once the vehicles came to a stop, one of the suspects physically assaulted the victim while the second suspect observed the entire incident. Both suspects got back in their vehicle and fled with the victim’s wallet. Officers located the suspect vehicle and conducted an enforcement stop. The driver displayed objective signs of intoxication. Both suspects were arrested without incident and the victim’s wallet was recovered inside the suspect’s vehicle. #478
