The following Richmond Police Calls are for January 22-28. These are the dates and recaps reported by Richmond Police. Police reported 1,862 calls for service with 19 vehicle collisions and 44 arrests.
Below is an overview of significant service activity provided by RPD patrol officers during their scheduled shifts. Please note that activity shared in these segments are provided only as an overview, and do not reflect the entirety of service calls and reports taken throughout each shift.
PATROL ACTIVITY REPORT for Richmond Police Calls – WEEKLY OVERVIEW:
1/22 – STOLEN VEHICLE – RECOVERY: Officers responded to a Flock notification of a stolen vehicle in the area. A records check confirmed the vehicle to be reported stolen. Officers located the vehicle and observed the driver and solo occupant exit the vehicle before being taken into custody. #684
1/22 – MISCELLANEOUS: RPD officers in collaboration with other local and federal agencies, conducted parole/probation searches of subjects with convictions related to Human Trafficking. The operation resulted in one arrest for possession of a firearm.
1/22 – DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE (DUI): Officers responded to the area of Marina Bay Pkwy and Potrero Ave for a report of a collision. Officers determined no collision occurred and found a vehicle blocking a lane of traffic. The driver displayed signs of intoxication and during the DUI investigation, provided a breath alcohol sample of more than three times the legal limit. The driver was arrested without incident #710
1/23 – NEGLIGENT DISCHARGE OF A FIREARM: Officers responded to the area of 17th St & Bissell Ave for a report of shots fired. Officers found numerous casings at the scene. No victims were located and no property appeared to have been struck. #752
1/23 – CARJACKING: Officers responded to the 4900 block of Cypress Ave for a report of a carjacking. During their investigation, officers learned the victim and the suspect arranged to meet at this location. Once the victim arrived, he was approached by four suspects and was hit in the head with a firearm. The suspects fled in the victim’s vehicle prior to officers’ arrival. #753
1/24 – ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF A FIREARM: An RPD officers attempted to conduct a traffic enforcement stop in the area of San Pablo Ave and Barrett Ave. The driver failed to yield and the vehicle became disabled after colliding into a brick porch. The driver was transported to a local hospital for medical clearance prior to being booked. A search of the vehicle revealed a loaded handgun with an extended magazine. #778
1/24 – STOLEN VEHICLE – RECOVERY
Officers responded to a Flock notification of a stolen vehicle in the area. A records check confirmed the vehicle to be reported stolen. The driver failed to yield and the vehicle became disabled after colliding into a parked vehicle. The two occupants fled from the vehicle, and with the assistance of a local law enforcement agency, officers were able to detain one suspect. #793
1/25 – CARJACKING: Officers responded to the 1500 block of Carlson Blvd for a report of a carjacking. The victim stated she was pumping gas, when the suspect approached her while simulating a firearm under his shirt. The suspect proceeded to enter the victim’s vehicle and fled. Later that day, the victim’s vehicle was recovered occupied by another local law enforcement agency in a nearby city. RPD officers responded to take custody of the suspect. #820
1/25 – DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE (DUI): Officers responded to the 2800 block of Cutting Blvd for a report of a collision. Upon arrival, officers contacted the driver who showed objective signs of alcohol intoxication and during the DUI investigation, provided a breath alcohol sample of more than four times the legal limit. The driver was arrested and transported to a local hospital for treatment. #826
1/26 – MISCELLANEOUS: Officers conducted a human trafficking operation in collaboration with other local and federal agencies as well as victim advocates. This collaboration was conducted as a part of Operation Reclaim and Rebuild, a multi-agency statewide initiative that focuses on rescuing victims of sexual slavery and human trafficking as well as identifying and arresting perpetrators. The operation resulted in three arrests, four citations for solicitation and six victims were rescued. One of the arrests resulted in the recovery of a firearm with an extended magazine.
1/28 – GRAND THEFT: Officers responded to the 800 block of Parr Blvd for a possible grand theft in progress. The caller advised three suspects were seen cutting telephone wires. The suspects fled on foot while carrying wires upon officers’ arrival. Officers arrested two of the suspects and recovered the stolen wire. #924
1/28 – SHOOTING INVESTIGATION: Officers responded to the 300 block of Willard Ave for a report of a gunshot wound victim. Offices located a victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound. The suspect fled prior to officer’s arrival. This investigation is ongoing. #943
