2 Dead, 1 Wounded in Friday Night Richmond Shooting

The Richmond Police Department says 2 people are dead, and another was wounded in a Friday night shooting.

On Friday, October 6th at 7:46 pm, Richmond Police Department Dispatch received a ShotSpotter alert in the area of 23rd St. At the same time, calls began coming in advising a shooting had occurred in the 900 block of 23rd St.

Officers were dispatched and on scene within two minutes.

Officers located a total of three victims, one of which succumbed to their injuries at the scene. The remaining two victims were transported to local trauma centers, where one unfortunately also succumbed to their injuries. The third victim is currently hospitalized and receiving medical care.

Richmond Police Department Homicide detectives responded to the scene and are actively investigating this crime.

This is an ongoing and active investigation. Based on information gathered by our team of investigators, this incident appears to an isolated incident. There is no current threat to public safety.
