The San Pablo Police Department issued a warning to the community to not mess with the American Flag.
According to police, the incident occurred Thursday morning with the headline “Don’t Mess with ‘Old Glory”
This morning our officers got a call from the San Pablo Post Office about a man who had just cut down the American Flag. Luckily our Priority Oriented Policing (P.O.P) Unit Officers were in the area and saw the suspect. Despite the suspect trying to flee into the creek, our officer easily caught him and recovered the flag.
The suspect was taken to county jail and will be spending Christmas behind bars. The “Stars and Stripes” was returned to its rightful owner, US Postal Service in San Pablo.
The police department said the officer who recovered the flag was also a Veteran. The officers did their best to take good care of the flag and keep it off the ground as much as possible.
The suspect was not identified by the San Pablo Police Department and no other information was released on the incident.

Uh, he’s not going to be in jail until Christmas Day for something like this. You should just be issued a ticket at the most and even then federal law outlines flag destruction and any consequences, not the cowboy cops quoted here. This is so stupid.
If it was a gay flag or a hamas flag , the libs would be calling for the death penalty , just saying.
The death penalty? No. That’s not true. But thanks for being a simpleton. There’s a huge element clearly missing from this story. You can’t be jailed for days for this act as described here. Either the guy had a warrant or there was something else on him at the time the police showed up. This story is bogus as written.
