The following is a sampling of the Hercules Police Calls reported between December 1-20 which focuses on the higher priority call responses in the City of Hercules.

 

Arson

  • 12/20 – On December 20, 2022, at 2:03 pm, Officers were dispatched to Avocet Dr. at Willet St. for the report of a car on fire. The Officer located a yellow 2014 Kia Soul parked along the curb, in the 1100 block of Avocet, fully engulfed in flames. Rodeo – Hercules Unit 76 arrived on scene and extinguished the fire. A witnesses’ statement indicated someone purposely lit the Kia on fire and fled from the scene. Surveillance video, obtained during the investigation, confirmed the witnesses’ statement. The registered owner of the vehicle, and victim of the Arson, was determined to live in the 1100 block of Avocet. Investigation into the incident is ongoing

 

Auto burglary

  • 12/1 – On December 1, 2022, at 11:20 am, an officer was dispatched to Jack in the Box at 3800 San Pablo Ave for a vehicle burglary. An unknown suspect broke into the victim’s 2022 Kia Forte and stole a rain jacket
  • 12/7 – On December 7, 2022 at 7:32PM a HPD Officer took a report of an auto burglary from Hercules High School. A white Suzuki and a gray Hyundai Kona had their windows broken and a backpack and wallet were taken.

 

Battery

  • 12/11 – On December 11, 2022 at 3:09 p.m. Officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Wadi Run for a report of a fight. The 38 year old male reporting party stated his 25 year old nephew, of Hercules, just punched him. Upon arrival, Officers observed the reporting party appeared to be upset and intoxicated. The nephew was contacted and admitted to punching his uncle. The nephew was detained, and the uncle was medically evaluated. He didn’t appear to have any visible injuries. The uncle stated his nephew punched him once in the face and once in the chest. The uncle requested prosecution and signed a complainant’s arrest form. The nephew was arrested, cited, and released.

 

Burglary – Attempted

  • 12/13 – On December 13, 2022, at 3:15am, and officer conducted a felony pedestrian stop on a subject standing near a broken window at the Zaiqa Restaurant located at 848 Willow Ave. The officer observed the suspect was wearing clothing that matched video surveillance footage from two other prior burglaries at restaurants in Hercules. The 38 year old male, transient out of Oakland, was taken into custody without incident. A search, incident to arrest, revealed the subject was in possession of a window punch and a chisel. The investigation indicates the subject did not have an opportunity to actually make entry into the business His clothing, gloves, shoes, and face covering were an exact match to the prior burglaries, which were committed in the same manner. The subject was booked at the
    Martinez Detention Facility for two counts of burglary, attempted burglary, and possession of burglary tools

 

Burglary – Commercial

  • 12/1 – On December 1, 2022, at 2:04 pm, an officer was dispatched to a business office, in the 1500 block of Sycamore Ave, for a burglary report. The victim stated that at 4:20 am a suspect broke into the business and ransacked the interior.
  • 12/7 – On December 7, 2022 at 11:28 a.m. An Officer was dispatched to Thai Lao restaurant, 1581 Sycamore Ave. to take a report for a commercial burglary. Officers saw the restaurant’s lower glass windows were shattered with entry being made through one of the shattered windows. Inside, the restaurant’s front counter was disturbed, and the cash register was missing. The suspect went into the rear of the restaurant and ransacks the employee lockers. The suspect apparently exited the restaurant via the same point of entry.

 

Burglary – Residential

  • 12/15 – On December 15, 2022, at 10:20 am, officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Falcon for an audible alarm for living room motion. Officers found the side fence had boards pulled off and the side garage door had been pried open. Officers checked the interior of the home and found other interior doors had also been pried open. Video surveillance showed a black Dodge Charger backed into the driveway and two subjects exited and went towards the side fence. Later the suspects came back to the vehicle and fled. The loss was personal property.
  • 12/18 – On December 18, 2022 at 8:55pm, officers responded to the 100 block of Iris Rd. for a report of residential burglary. The 71 year old female victim stated she secured and left her residence at approximately 9:30am. When she returned home at approximately 7:00pm, she unlocked her front door, and upon going upstairs, she discovered several rooms were ransacked

 

Death Investigation

  • 12/5 – On December 5, 2022 at 4:28 AM officers responded to the 1000 block of Maybeck Lane for a 40 year old male who was unresponsive, Officers located the subject unconscious and not breathing. Officers began CPR and administered Narcan, as a precaution for a possible drug involvement, but had no response from him. Fire and AMR arrived shortly after and took over. At 5:07 AM the subject was pronounced deceased, and officers secured the scene. The Contra Costa Coroner was contacted. He arrived at the location and took custody of the body at 6:25 AM

 

Domestic Violence

  • 12/1 – On December 1, 2022, at 2:32 pm, officers were dispatched to a physical fight at Home Depot. The subjects were associated with a Nissan. As officers were arriving on scene the vehicle was leaving the parking lot. A stop was conducted on the vehicle and officers contacted the 28 year old male driver, out of Berkeley, and the adult female passenger. A witness stated that the male punched the female in the face multiple times. Officers determined there was a current restraining order on file protecting the female from the male. The male was determined to be the dominate aggressor. He was arrested and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. Neither parties were cooperate and it was also learned that male was possibly bitten in the ear by female and had to be medially cleared at the County Regional Medical Center prior to being booked at the Martinez Detention Facility.
  • 12/6 – On December 6, 2022 at approximately 5:35 PM, an adult female came to HPD to report a cold Domestic Battery. The incident occurred on the night of December 5, 2022, in Hercules. The victim claimed to have been pinched by a 20 year old male, during a heated argument. The victim did not want to seek prosecution but had visible bruising and swelling to left arm.
  • 12/18 – On December 18, 2022 at 10:06pm, officers responded to a lobby detail for a report of domestic violence. Victim stated she was assaulted by her daughter’s 27 year old father, of Hercules. The incident occurred while she was driving, in her own vehicle, near the intersection of John Muir and San Pablo Ave. Immediately following the incident, the victim dropped off the suspect, at his apartment, and responded to HPD. The victim had some minor redness and swelling near her right eye from being slapped, and desired prosecution against the suspect. An Emergency Protective Order was obtained and sent to the suspect via text. The suspect acknowledged he received the picture of the order, but refused to provide a statement and hung up on the officer

 

Drugs

  • 12/2 – On December 2nd 2022 at 3:39AM a HPD Officer conducted a traffic stop, and suspected methamphetamine was discovered. The 38 year old male driver, of Newark, was arrested, cited, and released on his promise to appear.
  • 12/15 – On December 15, 2022 at 2:56AM a HPD Officer conducted a traffic stop in the 800 block of Willow Ave. A probable cause search was conducted and a 24 year old female, of Fairfield, was taken into custody after suspected heroin was located. She was cite/released on her promise to appear.

 

DUI

  • 12/6 – On December 6, at 9:50 PM an officer conducted a traffic stop at 800 Willow Avenue. The vehicle was a Mercedes sedan being driven by a 24 year old male, from Vacaville. The subject displayed objective signs of intoxication. The subject was given the Standard Field Sobriety Test; and the Preliminary Alcohol Screening device indicated he was over the presumptive limit for the purposes of driving. The subject was arrested and transported to HPD for a blood draw. He was then released to a responsible person.
  • 12/7 – On December 8, 2022 at 6:01AM HPD Officers conducted a welfare check on a subject inside a vehicle in the area of Sycamore and Palm. Officers contacted the 23 year old male, of Pinole, and determined he was driving under the influence of alcohol. The Preliminary Alcohol screening device indicated the subject was over the presumptive limit for the purposes of driving. He was placed under arrest, cited and released to a responsible adult.
  • 12/16 – On December 16, 2022 at 12:53AM a HPD Officer conducted a traffic stop in the area of Willow Ave and I-80. The 32 year old male driver, of San Pablo, displayed the objective symptoms of alcohol intoxication. He performed the Standard Field Sobriety Test; and the Preliminary Alcohol Screening device indicated the subject was over the presumptive limit for the purpose of d riving. The subject was taken into custody. He was later cite/released to a responsible party
  • 12/18 – On December 18, 2022 at 2:31AM a HPD Officer was flagged down regarding a possible DUI driver in the area of San Pablo Ave and John Muir Parkway. The Officer located a silver Honda Civic, stopped at the intersection, with the 24 year old male driver, of San Pablo, passed outed behind the wheel. The subject displayed the objective symptoms of alcohol intoxication. The subject was given the Standard Field Sobriety Test. The Preliminary Alcohol Screening device indicated he was over the presumptive limit for the purposes of driving. The subject was arrested and later was cite/released to a responsible party.

 

Evading

  • 12/2 – On December 2, 2022 at 2:24AM a HPD Officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a black 2018 Honda Accor in the 800 block of Willow Ave. The driver failed to yield, and a pursuit was initiated. During the pursuit the driver discarded suspected narcotics out the window. The pursuit was terminated in the area of EB I-80 and Sonoma Ave after losing visual of the car.

 

Fraud

  • 12/1 – Fraud Via Used of Stolen Access Cards and Possession of Skimmers – On December 1, 2022, at 6:56 am, officers were dispatched to Bank of America at 1611 Sycamore Ave. for a Fraud in progress. Bank of America Security reported there were subjects, at the ATM, using fraudulent debit cards to steal money form the bank. Officers located two subjects at the ATM. One 30 year old male subject, from Southern California, ran to the rear of Big Lots and was detained. The second 27 year old male subject, from Southern California, complied with Officers’ commands and was detained at the scene. The two subjects were determined to be using a possible skimming device, and stolen EBT debit cards. Both were arrested and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility

 

Grand Theft/Possession of a Controlled Substance

  • 12/20 –  On December 20, 2022, at 6:38 pm, Officers were dispatched to Home Depot for a theft that just occurred. The reporting party, stated a subject, wearing a light gray hoodie, loaded up a cart full of merchandise and exited the store without paying. The reporting party watched the 36 year old male suspect, of Richmond, push the cart to a white Jeep Grand Cherokee (with Texas plates), which was parked in a stall near Big Lots! Officers observed the Jeep pulling out of the parking space. The driver drove towards the Dragon Terrace restaurant, where he parked the vehicle and abruptly exited from the driver seat. Inside the Jeep, was suspect’s wife and children (ages 6 months, 5, 13, and 15). The subject was detained without further incident. Over $1,000 of stolen Home Depot merchandise was located inside the Jeep and was returned to Home Depot. Several grams of suspected cocaine were located on the subject’s person. The subject was arrested and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. The subject’s wife took possession of the Jeep.

 

Indecent Exposure

  • 12/14 – On December 2, 2022, 2:57 pm, an Officer handled a phone detail regarding an indecent exposure incident. The adult an adult male, in a white BMW, parked next to her. The subject rolled down a window and exposed his private parts in front of her. Officers checked the area and did not locate the subject or the vehicle. At the time, the victim did not desire prosecution and only wanted HPD to be aware of the incident. However, on December 14, 2022, the victim recontacted HPD and stated she desired prosecution

 

Possession of Controlled Substance

  • 12/11 – On December 11, 2022 at 12:56 AM an officer conducted a traffic stop on a Chevy Silverado at 4000 San Pablo Avenue. The 46 year old male, of Concord, driver was in possession of suspected methamphetamine and suspected heroin. He was arrested, cited, and released on scene. The passenger was identified as a 45 year old female, of San Pablo. She stated she was involved in a domestic violence incident at the San Pablo Casino, prior to getting a ride from the arrested driver. SPPD was contacted and they arrived to take a report from the passenger.
  • 12/19 – On December 19, 2022 at 4:05am, an officer checked on a suspicious Mercedes at the Willow Park and Ride. Upon contacting the occupants, 48 year old male, out of Loleta, and a 33 year old female, out of Eureka, the officer observed drug paraphernalia. A search of the vehicle yielded suspected Fentanyl underneath female’s seat. The female was arrested and cite released upon her signed promise to appear

 

Possession of loaded Firearm

  • 12/6 – On December 6, 2022 at 3:52PM a HPD Officer conducted a traffic stop on a black ’21 Hyundai Kona. As the Officer approached the vehicle, he smelt a strong odor of fresh burnt marijuana coming from the Kona. The Officer contacted the 23 year old driver, of Hercules, and performed a probable cause search. The Officer located a fully loaded pistol inside of a backpack on the rear floorboard. The subject was placed under arrest and later cited and released from HPD.

 

Resisting, Obstructing, Delaying a Peace Officer

  • 12/7 – On December 7, 2022 at 10:04 a.m. An Officer saw a 23 year old male, of Hercules, standing outside his residence in the 900 block of Valley Run. There were two other males with the subject. The Officer knew the subject had an outstanding Felony Warrant. The subject, and the two other males, saw the Officer and went inside the residence. Officers approached the residence and encountered an uncooperative adult male exiting the residence. A 22 year old male next exited the residence and stood blocking the entryway to the front door. He refused verbal commands to move out the way and denied anyone else was inside. He was arrested for obstructing a police officer. Officers audibly called into the house and three more adult males exited the residence. All three residents were uncooperative and stated the wanted subject was not inside. Officer did a protective sweep of the interior of the residence and saw a chair beneath the attic crawlspace. Officers gave numerous verbal commands for wanted subject to exit the attic but received no response. The subject’s brother came back inside and called the subject out of the attic. At 10:47 a.m. the subject climbed down from the attic and was arrested for his warrant and obstructing. He was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. (H22-1368). An Officer was transporting the 22 year old subject to HPD when he made verbal threats to physically assault the Officer. The 22 year old was then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility for obstructing and threats to an Officer

 

Shoplifting

  • 12/15 – On December 15, 2022, at 12:25 pm, officers were dispatched to Rite Aid at 1560 Sycamore Ave, for a theft that had just occurred. The reporting party stated a female adult, in a Gray Chevy SUV, just stolen vitamins from the business


Stolen Vehicle

  • 12/1 – On December 1, 2022, at 11:21 am, an officer was dispatched to the 300 block of N. Wildwood for a stolen vehicle report. The victim stated that an unknown suspect stole their Black 2001 Acura TL, sometime between 5 pm on November 30, 2022 and 7:00 am December 1, 2022.
  • 12/2 – On December 2, 2022, at 11:02 am, officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Trestle Cove for a 911 disconnect. Officers determined the victim’s vehicle had been stolen. This same resident was a victim of Robbery on November 19, 2022, where the keys to their Gray 2015 Mercedes-Benz ML350 were taken. It was determined the Mercedes was stolen at 11:46pm last night (December 1, 2022) per video surveillance.
  • 12/9 – On December 9, 2022 at 10:10PM a HPD Officer located a stolen black Chevy Avalanche in the 4000 block of San Pablo Ave. Officers took a 49 year old male into custody without incident. The subject stated he bought the truck today in San Pablo. The victim responded to the scene and stated the subject was not the person who stole the vehicle. The subject was released, pending further investigation. The truck was released to the owner.
  • 12/11 – On December 11, 2022 at 7:55 PM an officer was contacted by an adult female regarding her black 2012 Audi 05 being stolen from the driveway in the 1000 block o f Rock Harbor. The victim stated her husband drives the vehicle, and he last saw the vehicle around midnight

 

Theft

  • 12/12 – On December 12, 2022 at 11:05 a.m. An Officer was dispatched to Shell, 3900 San Pablo Ave, for a report of a theft of a lighter. The adult female suspect took the lighter and fled in a vehicle.
  • 12/12 – On December 12, 2022 at 11:18 a.m. An Officer was dispatched to a phone detail regarding a female who wanted to report being scammed out of money. The Hercules resident stated she was “scammed” out of a large amount of money after meeting a male on a dating application. The victim wired money to the “male” on December 9th with the belief that he’d pay her back. However, the victim has not been paid back
  • 12/15 – On December 15, 2022, at 6:16 pm an officer was dispatched to the 200 block of Sunset Dr. for a theft from an unlocked vehicle. The incident occurred between December 13, 2022 and the time of call. The loss was a purse, fanny pack, and ID

 

Trespassing

  • 12/2 – On December 2nd 2022 at 8:03PM HPD Officers were dispatched to the 800 block of Valley Run for an unknown disturbance. Officers contacted 53 year old male who stated his 29 year old daughter does not live at the house. Today she entered the residence (with a key obtained in an unknown manner) and caused a disturbance. The father advised his daughter did not have permission to enter his residence and desired prosecution against daughter, who was not present

 

Vandalism

  • 12/7 – On December 7, 2022 at 9:05 a.m. An Officer was dispatched to the Subway, 1572 Sycamore Ave. to take a report for a window broken overnight. The Officer saw the restaurant’s lower glass windows were shattered but no entry appeared to have been made into the business. The vandalism to the windows occurred overnight and appears to be an attempted burglary
  • 12/7 – On December 7, 2022 at 1:28 p.m. An Officer was dispatched to L&L Hawaiian BBQ, to take a report for a window shot out overnight. The Officer saw the restaurant’s lower glass windows were cracked in several different places. The vandalism to the windows occurred overnight and appear to be an attempted burglary.
  • 12/9 – On December 9, 2022, at 12:26 pm, an Officer responded to the 800 block of Valley Run for the report of a Vandalism. The 53 year old female victim reported that at approximately 9:00 pm last night, her 25 year old son vandalized her 2016 Cadillac ATS, by “keying” the vehicles right rear quarter panel, causing damage to the cars paint

 

Warrant Arrest

  • 12/2 – On December 2, 2022, at 5:14 pm, an officer conducted a traffic stop on a 2001 Nissan Sentra on Redwood Rd. near Chestnut for vehicle code violations. The 39 year old male front Passenger, out of Fairfield, had two outstanding no citable warrants out of Solano County. The subject was arrested and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility
  • 12/5 – On December 5, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. An Officer did a traffic stop on a Gray ’18 Mercedes GLA 250 for a stop sign violation on John Muir Parkway at Alfred Nobel Dr. The 27 year old male driver had a Felony Warrant out of LAPD. The subject had two Misdemeanor cite releasable Warrants out of San Bernadino County and Kern County. The subject also has a suspended/revoked driver’s license. The
    subject was arrested, and a tow truck was requested. During an inventory search, three vacuum sealed 1-pound bags of suspected Marijuana were found inside the trunk. The subject was also charged with transportation of the Marijuana. He was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
  • 12/5 – On December 5, 2022 at 8:22 PM an officer conducted a traffic stop on a black Chevy Camaro on eastbound HWY 4 and the Sycamore Avenue off-ramp. The 22 year old male driver, from Pinole, had a misdemeanor warrant out of Redwood City. He was arrested, cited. and released on scene.
  • 12/6 – On December 6, 2022 at 8:39 PM officers responded to Safeway at 4080 San Pablo Avenue for a subject attacking the security guard. Officers contacted a 36 year old female, from Pinole, and detained her. There was no crime involving Safeway, but the subject had a non-citable warrant out of Contra Costa County. She was arrested and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
  • 12/7 – On December 7, 2022 at 10:29PM a HPD Officer conducted a traffic stop in the 600 block of Parker Ave. A 41 year old male was placed under arrest for a no bail Probation violation warrant. He was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility
  • 12/10 – On December 10, 2022, 2:29 pm, an officer conducted a traffic stop on a 1990 GMC for expired registration. The 40 year old male driver, of San Pablo, was found to have an outstanding warrant and was driving on a suspended license. The subject was arrested and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility for the warrant, DUI Probation Violation and Driving on a suspended DL
  • 12/13 – On December 13, 2022 at 11:23 a.m. An Officer did a traffic stop on a Silver ’02 Acura MDX (old dealer paper plates) on Sycamore Ave. near Shell gas for 5200(a) VC. The 40 year old male driver, of San Pablo, was found to be on probation out of San Joaquin County. He was also found to have an outstanding Misdemeanor No Bail Warrant out of Tracy PD. The subject was arrested and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. The MDX was found to have expired registration as of June 2020. The MDX was towed.
  • 12/16 – On December 16, 2022, at 6:12 pm, an officer conducted a pedestrian stop on a subject on San Pablo Ave, and Hercules Ave. The 42 year old subject had a no bail warrant out of Alameda County. The subject was arrested and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
