Firefighters Respond to Homeless Encampment Fire in Concord

A homeless encampment fire sent a giant cloud of smoke into the air Tuesday morning in the City of Concord as Contra Costa County Firefighters responded.

The call came in just before 9:00 am in the area of Mayette Ave and May Ct under the SR-242 & I-680 overpass. Crews arrived on scene to a 20×20 homeless encampment fire that got into brush.

No other updates were provided.

I am surprised they addressed this call. A couple of months ago I called about a fire where ironically, there was a bigger fire in Antioch off Country Hills Rd and behind Barnes and Noble. Our “great” first responder whom I spoke to basically told me to go suck it, the state allowed these fires to happen, and the fire dept did not have to respond to them… *click – hung up. Tell me I am wrong.
